Hoyer is back - some good news for sure.

Good leadership and somebody that knows the system and can help the rookie!

Yes, I love bringing him back. He's exactly the kind of selfless veteran QB we need to help Stidham. I'd even go out on a limb and say Hoyer might be able to fight for the starting job if Stidham isn't as far progressed as they're saying. Hoyer can be the game manager we need to stay competitive IMO.

We also made a nice signing with LB Brandon Copeland. We've been interested in him before and finally brought him in to fill one of the voids left at the LB spot. I think we have done a nice job, on paper, with our defensive signings to fill voids. Just need to make some good offensive signings now.

I don't ever want to see Hoyer play. I have no interest in Jacoby Brisset either. The Patriots should sign Winston. He has uber talent, a great arm and is only 26. He threw for 5,000 yards and 30 + TD's. You can get him on the cheap.

Yes he threw 30 picks. In a McDaniels offense that would never happen. Teach him how to play QB and you have a future all pro.

he is not going to start (even tho his agent said that pats offered him the opportunity to earn the position) but should be able to help the kid with the offense.

I am not saying he would be the savior we're needing, but in our system that he's more comfortable with and one where McDaniels has proven he can adjust play calling to help make it easier on the QB, I think he could be a game manager well enough to not turn the ball over to give the offense a chance.

Hoyer is a lifelong back up QB, so it wouldn't be good for our near future that he's starting.

I can see the argument for bringing in Winston, but I don't think we will. Belichick has never been a fan of turnovers and Winston is full of them. I think in a more balanced offense and the right play calling, Winston could step in and throw half as many INTs, but 15 is still a lot.

I grew up watching the Pats be irrelevant. I'd watch with my step dad as he cussed out the horrible coaching and play calling. I'll never jump ship. Every season with Brady and gang was exciting because we were all hoping Bill would add a key offensive piece to help out Brady or some key defensive players. So now, with an uncertainty at QB, the WR signings or other offensive signings mean a hell of a lot less. I'd get a little more excited if we did add a player like Winston. At least he's entertaining.

But the whole thing isn't just about losing a great player. It's a nostalgic loss as well. I suppose there is a different sort of excitement to see what happens in the post Brady era.

Terry Bradshaw brought up an interesting point. He thinks is crazy that Brady would leave New England for TB other than to prove to the Patriots that he's more important than Belichick. At 43, the Patriots offense is / was perfect for Brady and now he's going to a completely different offense, albeit with a lot of offensive weapons, but he's skeptical it will work out like Brady hopes.

I think Manning was the only QB to switch teams late in their career and win anything. Bradshaw still wishes Brady good luck, but didn't like the move.

It is interesting because Kraft came out and said he wanted Brady back, yet didn't get him.

I hate to keep talking about Brady because he's gone, but without anything else on, people are continuing to talk about this move.

It sort of is a Brady move. He loves challenges. He loves to prove people wrong. I don't think he's out to prove that he's more important than Bill. I think he's out to prove that he can do it without Bill and that he's not a "system QB". He also wants to challenge Manning in that regard and I think he's also after Brees' record.

Patriots cut Stephen Gostkowski. Saves us $2.64m in cap space. I think that means we are back to having no kicker as Nick Folk is a FA right now.

Brady's relentless competitive spirit has overcome his reason. I wish him the best of luck in Tampa Bay, it's going to be a different flavor of Tom Brady. When things don't go his way, I'm afraid there will be tantrums.

Hoyer at least knows the system, has been in the league for a while, and is a solid veteran. I'm all for letting him batter for the starting job, Stidham hasn't proved anything.

Montana took Kansas to playoff as well.

Taking the Bucks to the playoff will be great and winning something will be HUGE.

Also, are we really saying that the goat can't be the goat playing in another team? His arm is in good shape, he will have the tools to let the ball go quick and not take so many hits.

With 2-3 deep threats u know how many OPEN receiver he will have underneath? The WesWalker 3-5yds are going to be there every single play.

    Yup!

    Hope Tommy thrives!

    He will...

Yeah, I think Brady will be more than fine in TB. Father time is undefeated which is why you will always have skeptics. I think the only people who understand that Brady still is a competent QB are the people who watched him week after week. All the box score watchers will say he's washed up.

Devin McCourty came out and said that he initially wanted to leave the Patriots this off season. Said after 10 seasons and 3 Super Bowls that it was time for a new challenge. But, after his brother resigned and Brady left, he said he realized the greatest challenge for him was to lead the current Patriot team into a new era and ensure the next wave of players can continue the legacy.

I figured that's why the Patriots paid him good money to stay. Needed that veteran leadership and toughness that we've seen over the years.

He was the first one that came to mind when I was typing "bad decisions"

The Brock Osweiler project will always stick out in my mind as one of the worst moves in pro football of the decade.

we won't know how good this team could be until we see Stid for at least 4 weeks - with that being said that is a TOUGH schedule.

Our last 6 games of the season are not joke:
    Las Vegas Raiders
    Arizona Cardinals
    San Francisco 49ers
    Baltimore Ravens
    New York Jets
    Seattle Seahawks

I was so on board with the Patriots' tanking away the season, getting Lawrence or maybe Fields and making a run.

Now, I think people are overreacting to the loss of TB12. He's a legend, GOAT, the greatest player to play for the franchise, I'll root for him in TB, but his play last year was replacement level (88.0 passer rating, 2(!) 100+ Passer rating games in the last 13 games). He was the player we kept looking to break out of his funk, but never did.

Now, after reading McCourty's comments on Stidham. He practiced week in & week out against one of the best defenses in the NFL last year. This team feels totally disrespected... This wasn't "Brady's team", the team last year won because of the defense. I'm looking for an 11 or 12 win season next year. If Studham doesn't show up, we trade some draft picks for Watson next year.

As mentioned above, it really depends on how our QB is playing. We will still have a top 10, at worst top 15 defense, that will get us turnovers and keep us competitive. I'm really interested to see how Meyers and Harry develop this off season as I think they could be pretty good for us. Meyers and Stidham had a lot of chemistry in the preseason that I think will carry over even more this season. McDaniels needs to adjust the game plan and put players in positions to win.

That being said, .500 would be pretty good in our first season post Brady. I'm hoping we can sneak away with a wild card birth.

Yikes at thinking Brady was playing at replacement level and was his fault for not carrying the team. I figured someone who watched the games would know it was a team effort to be as mediocre as we were. One season removed from winning the Super Bowl to thinking he was replaceable...
