Honestly, I would like to see Brady go play for someone else, and win a last ring. It would kill the whole "Brady is a system QB" narrative for good. It blows my mind how people can criticize a QB who has 6 rings...... when 99% of QBs don't even make 6 Conference Championships in their career.

Let’s hope not, otherwise he’ll start having to using Aaron Rodgers hands to carry them.

This is why I think so many people are trying to downplay Jimmy G so much. If Jimmy is successful with another team, then it's not just Bill's system that can make any QB look good.

The only people who think Brady's success is due to be a "system QB" are ignorant people who are in denial. I've learned long ago to ignore those people and enjoy the fact that I've been able to witness the greatest QB to ever play the game.

Brady needs to resign with the Patriots, put together a strong season or two and retire as the GOAT. I think he has the talent left to win a Super Bowl (based on his play this season), but it's only going to get harder for him as other teams get better.

I do think this is the most likely path.... Brady definitely showed some signs of father time hitting him, however even at 80% he's better than many QBs in the league. It all comes down to whether or not the Patriots will give him some weapons for a final run. The offensive as it is now, just isn't good enough to hang with teams like the Ravens or Chiefs, and it's unlikely the defense can put up the insane stats it did in 2019.

Comes into the Patriots thread to post this. What a ****in loser.

A shell of Brady has a better chance of winning a SB than Rodgers in his prime.

Was going to say I want O'Shea back, but didn't realize he went to the Browns as WR coach/passing game coordinator, good situation. Baker isn't a bad QB, a couple really talented wideouts, and a RB that will eat attention from defenses.

I think it's funny Jimmy G mentioned him and Belichick have an open line of communication. Belichick clearly loved Jimmy G as the next NE QB.

put CURRENT Brady on the Titans or Bills and he would be playing the SB Sunday

he may not win a sb on his throwing for 5000 yards 40td season anymore but u put the right pieces around him and he will rip u a new one.

    3x30 = landing Brady

whoever is willing to do that is going to have a good chance to sign him imho

Pats "supposedly" said they are willing to pay 30M... the question is for how many years? Tom wants commitment and 1 year is not going to get it done.

    *************
"The Raiders are poised to pursue quarterback Tom Brady if he doesn't re-sign with the Patriots before free agency begins, league sources told ESPN," wrote Schefter.

Schefter also said one of the top people lobbying for Brady to become a Raider is Las Vegas' head coach, Jon Gruden.

"One of the teams expected to be leading the way if Brady gets to free agency is the Raiders, whose coach, Jon Gruden, is a long-time admirer of the three-time MVP and six-time Super Bowl champion. The two have a good relationship, and league sources believe that Gruden, who is known to be a highly effective recruiter, wants Brady on the Raiders."

Brady/Waller/Jacobs would be a good combo for sure. Not many difference makers at WR though, I think they'd have to lure some free agent in or trade. I can't see Brady chasing the money at this point in his career, he wants one last chance to win it all.

Really don't think the Raiders are the best choice for that....

agreed - I don't think is money but tools to work with and tbh Pats as of right now don't have many.

Edelman is old, Harry can't create separation, Sanu???, and the OL is missing pieces plus Sca is retiring... AND BB runs his team the way he wants so I don't see how Brady is going to have input in personnel - it is well known that he has advocated for receivers before and BB looked the other way.

If Patriots draft a GOOD WR in the 1st and 2nd rounds I think Tom will stay. Or if they get a splash FA WR like Amari Cooper.

I feel we need more TE than WR - Brady has always been a better in between the lines passer.

Brady's silly post the other day was a lead in to his Hulu commercial. I liked that he said "he's not going anywhere" at the end.

Raiders are reportedly going to go after Brady if he doesn't resign with Patriots. Also, I heard that Brady isn't requiring $30m+ a year, he is focusing on weapons which makes more sense. I never bought into the idea that he is wanting market value. He's never wanted the biggest contracts, just championships.

The Patriots are willing to do whatever they need to bring him back and with Belichick and McDaniels still on staff, I can just about guarantee Brady resigns. They'll address their team needs like each season, but I bet they make a bigger splash in free agency to bring in a WR or TE. I imagine they'll draft offensive lineman and sign a "proven" talent.

I don't think they ever felt pressure that Brady would leave, but right now its a real possibility. For how much Brady has sacrificed salary-wise his entire career, it's time the Pats break the bank and make some splashes and make 1-2 more runs at a title.

Brady really has all the power here. Nothing at all left to prove, chasing another ring is for his own satisfaction and he'll do whatever is needed to get that chance.

I honestly think our biggest challenge is the OL - too many holes as of last year and with Thuney poised to leave I feel it would take awhile before the OL gets to Championship level. We are 30 days or so to find out what's up - fi pats don't make a good pitch to Brady and he waits until after his contract is up then they will need to account for dead money on the cap as well (14mil I think it is) so resigning Brady plus getting help would be even harder.

I'd like to see the Patriots go after Hunter Henry and OJ Howard. Henry is estimated around $9m and Howard is $3.5m. Players like Burkhead, Lacosse, Dorsett could be cut to free up cap space. Still would leave us super thin to resign others, without making cuts, but it's doable. Use the draft to pick up OL help and then acquire other needs with cheap additions.

In all honesty, bringing back Brady and getting him the offensive help he's wanting does seem difficult without dropping a number of other players to free up space. Whatever happens this off season, I hope the Patriots make a move to ensure we have someone at QB that can keep us competitive post Brady.

I think adding a 3rd year would be easier to give him more money now, through spreading out guaranteed money. I'm not going to pretend I know enough about contract structures to continue.

I've heard rumors that AJ Green AND Hunter Henry have come up a lot in the Patriots player talks. If they managed to bring in Green, Henry and Brady while maintaining a decent defense, that would be amazing.

Green's market value is 2 year, $18m. Henry market value is 4 year, $35m. Seems tough to make both work, but in Bill I Trust.

I love Tom Brady, and still believe he can lead a team to a Super Bowl, but giving him a three-year-deal at his age (he'll be 43 in six months) is a bit absurd.

    It's a truly difficult situation.

I really like the idea of signing Hunter Henry. AJ Green, ehh, I wouldn't give him big money. He's too injury prone. We need consistency and reliability for the big games.

agreed that 3 years is absurd but u have understand that some of these team need to win NOW (yesterday I saw another rumor from Michel Irvin and Jones talking about FT Dak and then trading him IF they land Brady)... Jones wants to win NOW, has the money, and at his age he prob doesn't much about how the team is going to look 3 years from now.

I like the TE idea but not so sure about AJ Green - FA WR doesn't seem to get the Patriots system; perhaps a Emanuel Sander will make more sense but we will need to figure out what to do with Sanu.

Back to Brady: I still think that 3x30 is going to get it done for a competitive team.

Mixed reports coming from the team. Patriots want Brady to test free agency, but now I'm hearing they want an answer from Brady before free agency. Brady deserves to test free agency, but at the same time he should give them an answer. Patriots can't d*ck around with him taking his sweet time.

Also, I have a feeling Sanu will get traded this offseason. We could land a solid WR1 if we could package Sanu in a trade. A player like Diggs would be a hit of $12m and trading Sanu would free up $6.5m. A $6m cap hit for a guy like Diggs would be nice.

"Only" about a month left of speculating and rumors then it gets exciting.

3 years will get it done for the pats at lower rate 25x3 and everybody will be happy

    1. longer season and playoff in the makings so having a more than serviceable QB is important
    2. they have no realistic option at qb - you put ANY available qb with pats roster and we will be looking at 7-10 (accounting for 17 games season) AT BEST
    3. OL still weak, no WR, and no TE
    4. we are going to lose pieces on defense as well

blow it up and rebuild or give the old man what he wants
