I wonder what the team meeting would have been like today. I would hope it was a ****ing funeral in there with Bill ripping everyone to shreds.

The whole team played poorly yesterday. Brain fart end of 2nd Q by Brady. Ghost missing PAT and FGs. Defense missing tackles. And that farce at the end of the game.

Bad coaching, bad team performance. Miami is a weird place. On to Pittsburgh.

Bill should be ripping himself while he's at it. He chose to put Gronk in on the final play of the game instead of a safety, when everybody on the team but him knew that Ryan fukking Tannehill couldn't throw the ball 70+ yards.

Also, not everyone played poorly. Gronk (although he isn't his old self), Edelman and Gordon had great games. Brady did too, overall (minus one rare mental mistake). In spite of a bit of weak playcalling AGAIN on offense (McDaniels kept going to the sweep run to the outside on 3rd down, which never works), the offense looks really good, overall. Special teams looked great. The run defense and the defense on the final play of the game was the drizzling shiots.

I call it like I see it. I posted that the game essentially ended our Super Bowl hopes for this season. Help me understand how that's an overreaction considering the Patriots history of road versus home playoff games and what we've seen of their play on the road this season.

Literally, you are wrong. It is essentially impossible to win the #1 seed now, which changes the playoff landscape. The Patriots were only one game back while owning the tiebreaker. Now the Patriots are just fighting for a bye going into Pittsburgh next week. Does New England beat the Chiefs in Kansas City with this team? Possible but not probable. By the way, they likely don't beat the NFC representative either in a Super Bowl with their defense.

I think what Hogan means is that historically we have a bad reputation on the road in the play-offs.

Just a statistical constatation, but it has some truth in it. That's what home field advantage can do for you.

The only point in which you two differ is:
- Hogan assumed KC would get lose one time more tha nus, which is why we had to win at least in Miami to get home field advantage in the AFC game (since we beat KC);
- you assumed KC wouldn't lose any more (at least not more than us), meaning we would [i]always[i] play in KC (even if we won in Miami).

Nearly every significant play came back because of a penalty. Crucial 3rd down drops by Edelman and Gordon.

Brady’s interception was ass, as was the last few plays

This game is 100% on the offense. Props to the defense. Shocked Bill didn't put Gilmore on JuJu and double AB84 but the plan basically worked.

Brady is lacking his usual intensity.
Gronk is a shell of himself, looks hurt, slow, and disinterested.
Edelman is still contributing making a lot of really difficult catches (but dropping some easy ones).
Gordon didn't seem to be looked at all game for some odd reason.
Where has White disappeared to?
OL performed well except for the penalties. Those were absolute killers.


What is this offense's identity? I understand that Patriots have always been multiple and changing their attack week to week based on the defense, but what does this offense do well? The team seems to be playing too safe. Punt and FG on 4th and inches. Brady won't throw a 50/50 ball ever (the heave INT excepted).


They've gotta get fired up and intense again and get that swagger/confidence back and go out there and execute.

Maybe I'm crazy, but based on how teams have played against us, it seems they treat us like it's the Super Bowl and I think that might make a difference when playoffs role around. I could be wrong though and we just aren't the team we used to be. I've seen a lot of progression this season and I think we're close.

Wrong. If the Patriots lose the next two and Miami wins the next two, the Dolphins win the tie breaker and the division (and could possibly bounce the Patriots from the playoffs). At least one of these two games does matter - win one of the next two and the division is locked. Nothing is a given with this team but it will be nice to be at home for the final two, which makes losing twice highly, highly unlikely.

You continue to be clueless about this. It is obvious to anyone who actually understands football. They haven't lost back to back games in December since 2002. They haven't had 5 losses in a season since 2009. This is one of the 3 worst teams the Patriots have fielded this century. They will not be fine come playoff time.

Let's review some of what I mentioned last week shall we...

Don't give me the lines about the Patriots usually losing to the Dolphins in Miami. It's not going to happen with this team, they just aren't good enough.

And what happened this week? They pissed the bed in Pittsburgh. One of us was not surprised about this.

This team is far too inconsistent and making far too many mistakes this late in the season to make a deep playoff run, especially on the road

And what happened this week? More inconsistent play and far too many mistakes this late in the season. The offense, which scored 33 points against Miami, scored just 10 points in the entire game this week. Gronkowski had 22 yards receiving. James White had 25 yards receiving (and only 12 yards rushing). Josh Gordon had one catch.

The Patriots committed 14 penalties.

Regardless of this single game, my criticisms have been consistent since the beginning of the season. This team reminds me of last season, only worse. The issues on defense which they had last season were not addressed by Bill Belichick.

The Patriots defense let rookie 3rd string running back Jaylen Samuels rush for 142 yards with an average of 7.5 yards per carry. In fact, the Patriots defense has let their opponents average 7.64 yards per carry over the past 3 games. Running backs are abusing them to the point that it should be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

Actually, Bill didn’t address the specific need at all. The Patriots defensive linemen are slow run stoppers (who aren’t even great at that). They lack speed and athleticism and that isn’t a new problem.

When Brady can throw for over 500 yards in a Super Bowl, put up 33 points and they still lose by 8, that's a major red flag that must be addressed as a priority. If the Pats don't have a somewhat average pass rush and secondary, they can kiss there SB hopes goodbye. So, that's number one, followed by the offensive line. Everything else can wait, if needed.

Overall, I haven't been a fan of this off season.

They're 29th in quarterback sacks this season.

The offense is no longer able to overcompensate for Bill's subpar defenses on a consistent basis. Bill is going to have to sign an elite pass rusher and pay up, if they want to win another Super Bowl before Tom retires. Even that may not do it at this point. Overall, the team is just not very good compared to other Patriots teams this century. They essentially require zero margin for error to win big games.

Edelman is 32 and coming off of ACL surgery. Josh Gordon is good but certainly not the same receiver we saw in Cleveland and he's a free agent in the off season. Gronk is constantly riddled with injuries and his play has declined. Chris Hogan is 30 years old and a 3rd or 4th option at receiver. Sony Michel is in his rookie season and is already missing games due to injury. Tom Brady is 41 years old and hasn't played consistently great this year. The play calling has been very suspect at times and too conservative. They've dealt with a lot of injuries. The issues on defense weren't fixed in the off season. I'm not saying they can't beat anyone on any given day (they can), but it's all slowly falling apart.

For a team thread, you are a huge d*ck head. If you don't like what I post, don't feel the need to right a book length response back...or for that matter even respond back. Just because I'm not in here crying about how bad we are every week, doesn't mean I'm biased and only see rainbows and sunshine. I know where we struggle. I see the same stats you see.
