Oh completely understandable. Umm, I would say this convert it mentally to whatever currency you spend daily. I base all my trades off of percentages regardless of the pairing. Then convert the total amount into dollars before the trade is exectued to see where I'd end up.

Yeah, was gonna say trading between crypto pairings and back into USD or USDT is probably the best means to hold onto gains. It can take a bit of work however watching buy into btc, then the alt, back to btc, and then back to USD and be sure that the entire trade is profitable.
For this reason I just trade to sats to gain more BTC, in saying that while my BTC stash is increasing it got destroyed on $ value on that break from 6k. If I wanted to keep an eye on charts for hours a day I'd prob go the exchange to $ route though.

That's actually exactly what I do. I have 4 charts per screen loaded up over 3 screens. I also have my laptop fulltime on the BTC chart. Trading back into tether or USDC (IMHO is a better option long term) doesn't cost much maybe total loss is 0.4% if you want to move extremely quickly in and out at market prices. My target goal for most trades is minimum 1.8% figuring by the time I take it in the pooper going back to BTC back to USDC I'll still profit 1.4%
Edit: I almost never make a market buy on any coins, only when switching back to tether, USDC, or BTC.
Edit Edit: Nice 5% drop on BTC this hour. lolI woke up this morning still breathing. Might as well take advantage of it.

Pick your pony, I'm calling a christmas miracle on PPTBTC or MCOBTC to have a 30% banger. They've both shown wild volatility in the event of having an unusually strong day the following day after.

Need some input from TAers. I'm reading up on moving averages and came across this:
Since they take the average of past price movements, moving averages are better for accurately reading past price movements rather than predicting future past movements. .
Is that a typo or is there a meaning to that? Is it saying that moving averages are better at understanding price movements that have already happened vs using it as a tool to predict price movements to come? The phrase 'predicting future past movements' is throwing me off.

My main use of TA is to look at where a market reacted at certain price levels. or certain fib retracements, I only use this to try to see how any particular coin will look in the future. Most people will say TA doesn't help accurately predict the future, I would somewhat agree except I look at TA as charting past market psychology. Humans tend to act the same over and over and over again. I don't know a better way to explain exactly what moving averages are other than it's literally right in the name. They show the PAST moving averages smoothed out over whatever time frame you have it selected to. I only give a particular amount of thought to the whatever MA I have set for the longest timeframe. Crypto markets move far too fast to look at anything under say 1 hr bars or half hour bars to get any accurate concept of what the price is doing. I feel like these would be far more efficient in slow moving markets such as the stock market. Just my $0.02 I'm sure someone can explain it better.

All indicators are simply made up of time, price and volume. Hence essentially all indicators are lagging.
If you want the best entries you gotta get in before everyone else, so that will be before any indicators give confirmation. Nothing wrong with waiting for confirmation though, but you won't get the best risk reward.

has anyone noticed ENJ coin having a ridiculously solid month? I'm not sure how this coin stayed off my radar for so long. Trending on low volume now so I wouldn't be interested unless I could hop in on a dip for something but almost up 100% this month steadily in a month of vast volatility.
