I know most hobby lifters shouldn't worry about these type of injuries for the most obvious reason but damn.. I don't ever wanna take a tour down lower back snap city drive.

hahaha, got to love the guy. Despite what hes going through he still says something like this. I think it was 800lbs or so he did for the double. Regardless of how unlucky he currently is with his health problems hes still a massive inspiration.

For him the risk was worth the accolades. I personally wouldn't do it, but at least he has something to show for all the damage. Was he really lifting heavy after the first few rounds of surgery? Yup. We're all gonna die one day. This guy became the most successful man in his profession and one of the greatest of all times. Id say it was worth it. Better than your average American man who does a 9-5 for 50 years, gets 2 divorces, gets fat and can barely walk up stairs without getting winded or do anything with their body by 40 anyways

This, he ruined his health in achievement not mediocrity and since health declines with respect to what damage is related to much of your lifestyle he's done something worthwhile

Look, I like lifting as much as most on this forum. And I enjoy lifting heavy weights, too. But you are straight up delusional if you don't think we'll all eventually suffer some consequences by lifting heavy ass weights for 20-30 years, especially without making some signficant adjustments to how we do it as we age. Ronnie was among the absolute GOAT ever and I respect what he accomplished in lifting, but let's be real about all this. Anyone who does any physical activity that rigorously for decades will eventually see some significant wear and tear on their bodies for it.

If you think Ronnie fukt his joints up from just lifting heavy then I suggest you Google some of the side effects of the supplements he was taking.
