Same experience I've had with some other bars like the two Vulcan power bars I've received. Not something that's concerning. I've had some come with great spin out of the box like my Rep Fitness Excalibur v1 and Ohio Power bar. But for powerlifting type movements the spin is not a huge factor and shouldn't be to much.

The sleeves are smooth and some like that. I don't care. I really don't mind ribbed sleeves. The laser engraving on the inside of the collar is a nice touch. They have extremely little play side to side or up and down. Some play is normal. My Jessup power bar has the most side to side play and my Vulcan SS power bar has the most up and down play which is probably why it is quick to stop. None of it is a big concern. At least not to me. Some people hate any kind of play and will even shim their sleeves to remove it. To each their own.

Not a fan of the sticker but who cares about #endcapsmatter #amiright I feel like just ripping them off as they will most likely end up falling off anyway.

If having the knurl off the j-hooks is why you want this bar you don't want the clearance version. If it doesn't matter to you like it doesn't to me this is a great deal right now. And if you want knurling to the end because supposedly for snatch grip then get a nice 28mm needle bearing bar. Don't get a powerlifting bar. And many powerlifters that do "snatch grip" deadlifts don't hold it way out to the ends anyway. Maybe some do but also use straps so knurl don't matter anyway.
    20190124_180636 by Jason, on Flickr

This knurl is nice and well defined. Making it aggressive. Definitely not super aggressive like a deep big diamond. It is peaked so if you're not used to that it will bite a bit until you get used to it. Though not as bad as the Absolute Power bar v2 or SS Power bar from Vulcan. It is very close to the Absolute PB v2 though. The Ohio Powerbar is not peaked but has an "edge" to the volcano like shape making it feel rough. My Westside v1 is the most aggressive bar I've experienced even more so then any deadlift or squat specialty bar it has deeper bigger diamonds. I'll do some more pics later to do side by side comparisons but that may be a few days out. Also, I'll have to get some time under the bar to really get a good feel for the bar. And as mentioned before my Jesup power bar is my all time favorite. Deep knurl but flat topped, not peaked at all or "edged." Though I also really like the okie deadlift bar's knurl too.

I'll have to get knurl comparisions between the bars I have.
Good stuff, dude. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Looking forward to yours too, synthetic.

Thanks for that initial impression of the bar Jason!
Between the bars you & I own, I think we'll have a very solid impression of where this bar sits relative to others on the market.

Gamecocklifter, I'll try to compliment what Jason is doing.

Did anyone order the chrome version?
A review of this bar w/ chrome plating would be interesting. I went with magnesium phosphate because of the added grip. Chrome might change the use of the bar, but I hvae no idea as I can't justify dropping another $280 (w/ shipping) just to play around, unfortunately.

Saw a 3 month old FB-5000 on CL for a hundred and swung by to pick it up. Guy was selling it because he just got the AB-5000. Holy smokes, the AB is impressive in real life. It is HUGE and HEAVY and built like a TANK. Super impressive. I can see why it is 500, looks like it costs a lot more. If Rep ends up adding a curl/extension attachment, I will have to ditch the IM as my adjustable. If you are on the fence, don't be, just buy it.

I asked them about adding a leg curl/ext attachment a while ago and they seemed very non-committal at the time probably because they were purely worried about getting the design of the bench perfect. Hopefully they are willing to revisit this now!

I have a Rogue adjustable and honestly I'd consider swapping it for this. Higher priorities going on at the moment but this is a killer bench. Looks amazing.

Well, what do you know, I got an email from Rep saying that the fat pad is back in stock, & when I checked it, I saw that the comp flat bench can be ordered with the fat pad substituted for the regular 1, so I ordered it. I'll post up a review when I get some time on it.

I'm more curious as to what's going on with the Equalizers. Most of the black are out of stock and the gray are discounted, is REP liquidating to introduce a V2 or discontinuing?

I believe they’re working to tighten up the tolerances. I’ve heard several complaints where the plates are a bit lop-sided, which prevents some of them from sitting flush. That’s the case with my set.

Word, I have noticed that with some of mine. Thankfully, I was able to pair them up pretty well with other lopsided ones so it's a non-issue. Still happy with mine, some mean looking plates.

I was considering picking up some REP rubber coated 45's. Do those have the same lopsided problems as well? I see most of the rubber coated ones are out of stock as well. Not necessarily on sale tho. Price is ok once I place (6) 45's in the CART.

Those are nice looking plates. I'm not sure anyone here as any - would love to see a review on them. The Urethane plates look nice as well, although more pricey.

I can’t say for sure since I haven’t used them personally, but I doubt they have the same issue.

The red & black ones? I've had those for 3 months. No issues at all. Very nice plates tbh.

Not sure but sounds plausible. I haven't had any issues with my plates being lobsided but the finish sure wore off quick. My 25's look just like a picture of yours I saw posted a while back. It's not really a big deal as I plan on refinishing all of my Rep plates sometime this summer. On a side note, I weighed all my Equalizers and found them all to be within 1% accuracy (most were within 0.5%).

I contacted them and they said they are discontinuing the gray plates but will continue to sell the black plates. They anticipate 6 weeks for the missing black plates to be in. Since I bought the grays, I may just buy more 45s as I dont mind they dont sit flush and have minor surface flaws.

I can't believe the clearance powerspeed bars are still in stock.
    https://www.repfitness.com/bars-plat...-bar-clearance

I have done some light training since my last meet. Initial impressions still hold true. The bar does grip the back well. Out of all my bars my favorite so far are my two vulcans but this rep powerspeed bar is right there with the Absolute v2 black oxide. On clearance though the powerspeed bar is a clear winner.

Knurl is extremely similar to the Absolute v2 and both grip my back better then my other bars. After some oil and use the sleeves spin very smooth on the rep bar. If you like smooth sleeves the powerspeed bar is it as the vulcans are very much grooved.

There is one thing though about the powerspeed bar that may win me over as my favorite feature of the bars and that is the outer unknurled section for use with my bands. Knurl tends to wear bands down so I usually put them out on the sleeves between some plates. Doesn't work well with pulling and using my rack.

    This is perfect.

I agree with all of that. The knurl is basically identical to Vulcan v2.

TBH....if it wasn't for REP releasing their more aggressive stainless bar soon I would've gotten one of these by now. It looks like a great bar from the feedback but I can't justify so many bar purchases for a one man army.

Duke, are there any plans to produce a monolift for the PR-3000 rack? If not, any idea what will accommodate this setup? All I'm seeing is that only Rep attachments will fit the 3000.

Love the 3000 rack btw, will provide a review when I get chance.

Not Duke obviously, but the Rogue Infinity monolifts should work with some minor modifications. Get the adjustable ones.
