I really like that they have holes on all sides of the uprights. It allows to mount attachments anywhere even just to put out of the way.

Supadude, I Don't think it's stainless, or Rep would say so. But it's not the shiny chromed steel either. it looks like the same hard chrome finish that Rep puts on other bars, such as SyntheticKiller's curl bar (see above post #586)

What's the difference between the performance and pro lat bars? Just the knurling and angle of the bends + end cap?

The 5000v2 has the most cross compatibility across multiple brands. 3x3 with 1" holes is the foreseeable future. IMO.

I got the beast together. Thoughts
-Rep sent me the wrong pullup bar which pisses me off. They are sending a new one out and I have to send the old one back.
1- I had to tighten the UHMW screws on the strap safeties. They propped off. It would be nice to have hex key that is short enough to fit in the bracket to tighten them up. My adjustable hex key set is just barely long enough to fit.

2- The top bolt slot inside and behind the Rep logo can't be tightened with my 1.5" socket and wrench set. They're too big to fit in the cavity to reach the bolt.
3- The lat pulldown system is a pain to put together but I did it by myself. It is smooth though.

4- The REP dip bar is meh. There's slop in it even with the pin in.

You cant really blame Rep for your poor tool selection.. And a lot of good pieces are a pain to put together. I.e. The inspire ft1 sucks to put together but its a great piece.

But I do feel you on the slope in dip bars. My titan dip bar did that and I had to favor one side of the other to make sure it didnt wobble during use. Ended up selling it

They're 1.5" wrenches and sockets which is fkn massive across all brands. As for the hex, I mean sure they might make smaller ones so I'll give you that. I just happen to have a key set up and on did fit.

You'd think someone from REP does dips and would fix this.

I have the older V1 dip horns and there's a lot of slop there too. Additionally, the finish on mine was not very good and I had to sand down and repaint. Love my PR 5000 V1 and FB 5000 though.

Thanks for the info. There's basically no reviews on this stuff. Maybe better to go with a Rogue Matador.

To be fair, the horns function well and, I doubt, Rogue's are much better.

I had the Matador attachment with my Rogue rack, the finish was very good, but there was a lot of play, for obvious reasons swing in attachments don't fit snuggly, even if they're fitted with a secondary pin.

Having to sand down and repaint doesn't sound reasonable for any product. Though I assume that Rep would have replaced it if it was that bad.

I have the v1 rep 5000 series dip horns that are fully welded and have the built in 1inch pin. They're great. Super stable. I never use the extra 2nd pin too.

My friend has a pr4000 with the bolt together dip horns and they were super shaky. I think it had more to do with the stabity of the rack. (Wasn't bolted and didn't have the stabalizer installed.)

My HR5000 has 2 horizontal stabalizers and about 600lb of weights in it so it's super stable. I do dips out the front and maybe I'll try off to the side to see if that's different.

Come on ladies it's a mass produced dip station, not the space shuttle. Shim it, wedge it, drill/tap it for a tension knob. Hell, stop reviewing everything and just use it. It will be alright.

I have the matador for an R3 and there is no play at all. Might be a little production inconsistency with these across all brands?

Can anyone compare the Matte Black Powder coat vs, the metallic black powder coat? Is the metallic as durable at the matte? I know there are a lot of comments about Rogue's color paint not being as durable as the standard black powder coat & wonder if Rep has the same issues.

Also anyone tried the Rep Urethane grip plates? https://www.repfitness.com/rep-ureth...olympic-plates

They looks awesome, but 45's at only 15.5" seems like a huge problem if you do deadlifts.

can anyone comment on the raw/clear finish. Do you find it too industrial? does anyone have any real good pics of what this finish looks like?

Thinking about the 5000v2 rack and I've always heard good things about the finish, but showed it to the wife and she was curious about the swirl/machine marks on the steel. And as this is going in the house, I have to deal with her concerns.

Asking politely that we keep responses/discussion on topic with the color/finish only.

This add-on for the 4000 and 5000 racks is scheduled for release early next year. No mention of a standalone unit, and despite recent interest in them, I can't imagine there's that much of a market--they're just too big for most home gyms.

Rep Stainless Steel Power Bar v2 on closeout for $199. I would've bought this instead of the Gladiator WL bar.

I saw that the other day and it's tempting. Wondering just how slight the defect knurly is though. I would have bought it without hesitation a few years ago, not sure I want to deal with defect bars at this point though.

The knurl is soft past the ring. I've never seen the bar gripped that far out in any heavy compound movement yet. I am a beginner though so YMMV.

And I wondered why people make such a big deal about smooth/ribbed sleeves. Well now I know. The ribbed sleeves on the Gladiator WL bar leave very little space to slide my plates smoothly. Especially after a tiring workout.

I believe it is between the ring and the sleeve. I assume most people use that part of the knurling when squatting and a fair number of larger/taller lifters use it benching.

I have it and it's a soft knurl but more then the old York bars. I would really call it a defect but just a passive knurl

Their new powerbar just got delivered to me yesterday (thanks Ryan) where by I brought it to my gym to get a bench workout on. Ended up benching 605 on it. Knurling felt good and grippy. It has a smaller knurling pattern similar to my stainless ivanko and what I remember from the kabuki, different compared to the OHpb and Texas power bar.
Real nice quality barbell. To bad the tariffs made the price increase but still under other stainless bars.

That unit was an early prototype, not the finished version. We'll show the finished version this month and you'll be able to see how it works.
