Hi I’m new here. I’ve been working out for a while- but more recently have been given PTs and a diet plan to give me an idea on what I need to do to eventually compete. I’m not in a bad shape just have lower belly fat/abs to try and get through (after having children I have jelly belly) and tone up. I weigh on average 8stone 7 and go to the gym 6 days a week. I went on holiday all inclusive on Tuesday until yesterday- I didn’t eat like a pig but I didn’t follow my diet at all and ate pretty much what I fancied and drank too. I went to the gym twice and done a couple of hours walking/swimming (combined) I’m home now and I’m going back to the gym tomorrow but I really want a takeaway tonight! Guilt plays a huge part in my mind and I’m wondering if I’m going to cause a lot of damage if I have a pizza tonight ? And if it’s best I just stick to my meal plan ?

Meal plans are unnecessary. Read the stickies about how to incorporate a variety of foods you enjoy into your daily meals. As for the pizza, if you feel guilty, don’t eat it but it’s not gonna cause “a lot of damage”. It’s one meal. Enjoy it and move on with your life.

Thanks guys, I haven’t ate great on holiday I want to enjoy myself aswell! It’s just getting used to the balance of eating well. I usually live on weighed out veg around 150grams a meal and one piece of meat along with boiled eggs if I’m hungry in between and/or plain rice cakes. I’ll take a look at the food pages- my meal plan is from a bodybuilding judge who owns the gym I use so I just assumed he knew best. Thanks again

Thanks! I’m not necessarily aiming to compete but the more I train and eat well the more it is appealing to me- hence the guilt of holiday food! Im going to have a look around the site and see what other people eat whilst training- my meal plan only adds up to around 879 calories per day- it seems pretty low.

You won't cause a lot of damage. I've been eating pizza and worse for several years now whilst not working out, and whilst I haven't looked great I haven't caused a lot of damage (yet). So one pizza is neither here nor there.
Now I'm on a strict diet the thing I find helps is to "schedule" my treats in advance. For example last weekend I had chocolate pudding and this weekend I'll have a Chinese which I have every month. However if I crave these things at random times I'm able to forgo them by telling myself it isn't the right day yet, and I'll have the opportunity soon. With something like a chocolate pudding I'll build it into my macros but with something like a Chinese I'll go all out and just eat what I want.Donkeyno9: Don't think you're the only one here who suffers from addiction, depression and failure. Well here's my take on it. Let's say an unhealthy person eats burgers, fries and pizza all day long, all their life. Then one day they go on holiday for 5 days and for those 5 days they eat really healthy. When they get back from their holiday they fancy a salad, so they have one. Following on from that they revert to eating burgers, fries and pizzas. So what good did their 5-6 days of eating healthy achieve, in the grand scheme of things? Not very much at all. This is basically the complete opposite of what the OP asked.
My point is, 5 days of not eating really strict is not going to change anything. Eating ONE pizza is not going to do ANY damage. If I can eat pizza for 10 years and not end up a walking heart attack, then the OP can have ONE pizza and be fine.
I then offered some insight as to how I eat chocolate pudding and chinese to satisfy my cravings and keep sane, WITHOUT resorting to eating it every single day or every week. A cheat meal as it were.
Unless anyone's suggesting that either eating one pizza is bad, or that eating Chinese takeaway every day/week is good, I don't see how this can be bad advice.Last edited by MrCarrot; 10-15-2018 at 03:22 PM.

Sounds like a challenge to me! Kind of what I do when I go on cruises. Lets see how much damage I can do in 5 days. More meat then a human should consume on top of all the other treats I try, and beer tastings etc. I always come back from cruises looking pretty much the same. Another thing you can do is go to walmart, find the fattest person you can driving around the electric carts and ask tem if they were skinny 5 days ago.
