I am looking for ideas...
I am trying to find a way to add/remove a central piece on my swiss bar (multigrip) to use it as a strongman log bar. I already have a multigrip.... goals is to save space and money by not buying a log bar.
From this
To something like this:
I am surfing the web for idea unsuccessfully... I will visit my Home depot too. 8" - 10" piping? Old barrel, etc...

How do you want to attach it? I'm thinking you are going to bolt it with some kind of 2x4 sandwich to attach it to the bar and drill the tube and lag bolt that.
Cutting tube that big, sucks.
I don't think Home depot will have what you want unless its drainage pipe, which I don't think will work.
tube options
plastics
pvc- it will break
abs-it will shatter dangerously
hdpe-might take it
metal
grc-it will rust
emt- it will dent
cold rolled- it will rust
If you want metal, try a scrap yard. Metal supermarkets will be very expensive.

Thanks.
It may be harder than I first thought to have a simple, cheap and safe diy option. It looks simple on paper.
I might go hunt for a real strongman log then... I have been looking for a used one for a while. The only one that pop up was a heavy 200lbs one empty. As I never trained with a log, I want a lighter one to learn the movement properly.

why not make it out of solid wood?🤔
i wouldnt mind something for my power systems combo bar. when the titan log bars come back in stock should be comparable pricrwise to modding an existing bar.
i wonder why watson only rates the bar to 300 lbs?▪█───────█▪ Equipment Crew #46 ▪█───────█▪

I would think being in Canada, he'd have easy access to real wood logs. I've always wanted a Slater log, but have settled for my own cut up lumber from my yard. I can't load them up with plates, but it does give a different rugged feeling workout. I just can't see buying and leaving a nice piece like a Slater log outside in the elements.
