You can make gains on pretty much any program if you're consistent. Bro splits might not be optimal but they're generally done with plenty of volume. Its also easy to recover when you have 7 days before hitting the same muscle group. The biggest problem with bro splits, in my opinion anyways, is the push pull ratio is usually off and people skip the days they don't like.

Squat: 495
Deadlift: 535

Depends on your goals. Do you want to be a Bro?
Like GHawk said. The biggest issue is skipping the stuff they don't like. Crushing arms, chest and shoulder while maybe doing 6 sets of legs a week. You can get huge and strong either way if you eat and do it for 10 years consistently.
Once your an established lifter, you'll have a body part that is lacking in size/scale. Throwing in some bro volume is a great way to get it caught up. i.e. My triceps are strong as hell but my long head is lacking because most my pushes are out in front of my body. So 12 sets a week split between french press, skull crushers and bench dips have really helped fill in the back of my arms. Theres are a ton of other examples for other muscle groups but you get the point.

The problem with split routines is that they allow for too much volume per session. This usually leads to imbalances which later causes injuries, most commonly shoulder issues because everyone thinks their chest is lagging. Having a day like chest day and then a day just for shoulders just makes things worse.

Like it or not, probably more than 99% of lifters in the world never did anything BUT "bro splits".
One poster said it's a given that you're gonna wanna skip training legs on a bro split. The other that it's a given that you're gonna have to much volume. The third that you're gonna train each body part every 7th day. Bs, bs and bs. Many people do it right from the start. The same as some ppl doing those novice plans-they do stuff wrong. Sticky routines are in no way a guarantee that you're gonna blow up in size and strength. Many other things play a role.bb.com, a place that turned Deadlift into a forearm isolation exercise
and a place where 99% of 21 year olds have bad back and knees.
