Finally got a wild hair to take some actual progress pictures. Photography is a big hobby of mine, so I tossed up the camera and a few lights...need all the help I can get to look good
So my quick story: I'm 37, and was 235lbs at the start of the year, had been around that weight for about a decade. Lack of exercise, sedentary job, not so great diet, married with kids, yada, yada, yada. This year I decided it was time to change that. I started actually using my home gym I'd had for years (at the time a power rack, bowflex and treadmill) and quickly started seeing the results. Took up Fierce Five novice routine about a month in and basically been running the whole time. My basement gym has become a minor obsession, gotten numerous upgrades (and yes the bowflex is long gone), and I've stuck with it. Fast forward to today, I'm now at 183lbs. Still need to cut more fat, probably try to get around 170 or so then start a clean bulk. The mirror will be the judge if 170 will be lean enough.
So here's a pic of me on Christmas Eve 2017, about 2 weeks before I started the workouts. And a few from today. I'm very happy with my progress, but it's still a long road ahead that really has no end.
Happy lifting!

Excellent job and awesome progress! It's just something that clicks when you realize you have to do something. In only 10 weeks into that realization. Hope I can stick with it and have good results at 10 months. I started at 231 and weighed yesterday morning just under 212 and according to libra trend weight at 215.

Thank you! I agree, it's weird how it just 'clicks' like you said. For me it wasn't a new year's resolution or anything, just one day said "damn I'm tired of being a fat ass". It just happened to be in January when it clicked. So glad I made the choice, I feel like a different person. Now 10 months in the lifting, cardio and diet they are all a habit and have become easy to sustain. In fact it irks me when I have to miss a workout.
Good luck on your personal fitness goals. Sounds like you're well on your way. Just keep at it and the results will come!

That's great, congratulations! You look like a different person in the face and I am sure in the physique as well.
Bodybuilding is much more than an hour in the gym a few days a week---it's a lifestyle that changes all your perceptions about how to live, eat, and rest. It feeds the mind as much (and sometimes more so) than the body.

Thank you. More will be coming at some major milestones. I'll probably post when I stop cutting and start bulking.
Thanks! I wish, but still got some fat to cut before that happens. I'm ready for it....gawd I'm tired of cutting.
Much appreciated.
Thank you. My face actually thinned out surprisingly quick, the gut and man boobs have been the stubborn ones. And definitely on the physique, it was an ugly sight before. Still far from a great, but far less repulsing

Thanks, guys. It's become a lifestyle change now. My wife has been on an exercise routine and eating healthier for about a year now so that helps a lot. Makes cooking a lot easier. We both look the best we have since we got married 15 years ago. She looks great; down about 30lbs since last year and still going strong. Hell, the last time I weighed what do now was in high school! I porked up my freshmen year of college, dropped down into the low 190s for my wedding, then steadily got fatter from there. Probably in the best shape I've ever been in right now, and still a lot of headroom. Exciting times ahead.

Thanks! The diet has evolved over the course of time. It started with cutting out almost all sugar and just eating less than I normally do. Still ate the same stuff, just less of it. Sugar was surprisingly easy for me to cutout, mostly in the form of soda and junk sweets. This was for the first few months and I saw pretty fast results. When the weight loss started slowing down I got more diligent on watching total daily calories and calculating TDEE.
I now eat pretty clean (I know, bad word here), and rarely eat food in the 'junk' category. It just evolved this way. I enjoy eating healthy now. My daily meals are pretty consistent without much variation, but it's easy to monitor and when I need to cut calories it's easy to remove stuff. On weight training days I eat more carbs, and on non-lift days I scale the carbs back, go for more fats. My daily protein intake is around 130 grams which is probably on the low side.
Weight loss is coming very slow right now(like 1/2 lb a week), but I really don't want to reduce calories more. I'm OK with slower progress now. I'm no longer in the 'fat guy' category, so that's fine with me. If anything I'm probably gonna ramp up cardio a bit more, which for me will be easier than eating less.
