Sticking a bet on Povetkin, he's a very skilled fighter but difficult to say whether he'll trouble Joshua without his special sauce.

Worth a few quid either way.

Not a bad call. I've read Povetkin by stoppage pays +900. For those odds, it's a worthwhile bet, IMO.

Tuning in, yes. Think Povetkin will have his moments. Good variety of punches, heavy handed, accurate. Worth laying down a few bucks on him.

And Joshua has been talking about having a midlife crisis! I'm not sure he's there mentally.

I can't wait for Chael "Boxing is dying" Sonnen's head to explode when Anthony Joshua walks out to a 90k capacity stadium for the 4th time in a year and a half.
    Starting stats: 5"11, 130lbs @ age 16.

    Current stats: 6"2, 215lbs.

The 8th and final rule: If this is your first night at Gym Club....... you have to squat.

Chael has to take that stance. I doubt he actually believes boxing is dying.

It's on Joshua if he has any trouble. He has all the tools to keep Povetkin off him.

I don't think there'll be a stoppage, I'll pick Joshua wide points win.

Yep. He'll probably jab Povetkins face off for 12 rounds. I can't see him wanting to get into too many exchanges. That would not be such a good game plan, IMO.

This is exactly what's going to happen. He's going to use his size to Jab away to a boring 12rd UD.

I haven't seen the fight yet, but props to Joshua for getting Povetkin outta there. Sounds like Povetkin had his moments though.

Will lol if Joshua manages to get ko'd by bum Wilder, but there's a fair chance that happens. He's been rocked in near every fight

Will lol even harder if bum Wilder gets beat by Fury. A mentally stable Fury whoops that ass but we'll see

Joshua is one hell of a professional but it's become apparent that he's not great imo. But HW is historically weak

Great fight. Joshua bends, but he doesn’t break. After getting buckled late in the 1st and having a difficult time with Povertkin’s punch variety through the 1st 3rd of the fight, he kept his composure and put things away with a crisp short right that was the beginning of the end. Props to Povetkin for going out on his shield. Bring on Fury/Wilder Dec 1st.

    Joshuas a bum.

He only fights good guys way past their primes and only fights them on his home turf. Hes the definition of a coddled fighter. His record does not have a single guy in his prime who is a high caliber fighter, he waited until Klitchco and Povetkin were old men before his management allowed those fights. And hes doing the same thing with Wilder, trying to wait him out until hes out of his prime years.

Joshua will not go down in history as more than a footnote in an era of weak heavyweights.

The hate is real here. He fights everybody who is put in front of him, either contenders or champions, beats every single one of them and he's only had 22 fights. To say he is a bum just shows you dislike him for some insecure reason.

Deontay Wilder at 22 fights hadn't even fought a ranked opponent.

his managers only put in front of him old has beens and no names though. It might not be his fault, and I have nothing against him as a fighter, but his record is a joke, and hes dodged the wilder fight and hasnt left home soil.

Hes got a loooooooong way to go to be considered a great heavyweight.

Joshua couldn't really have fought Kltischko any earlier than he did, it was only his 19th fight when they did meet. He wasn't ready for someone of Klitschko's caliber any earlier than that.

Povetkin was mandatory who has popped twice in the last two years and doesn't even deserve to be in a title fight IMO.

Like you said, the division is pretty weak. Fury, Wilder, Joshua all have only one significant win on their records - Klitschko for Fury and Joshua and Ortiz for Wilder. It's not like Fury has a great resume, or Wilder. None of them do because there's not a lot of big fights out there.

If Joshua fights anyone other than the winner of Fury vs Wilder next though, you're right. There's really no excuse to skip that one.

Ajs also beat dillian whyte who i class as a real contender at HW and joseph parker in his prime. He has the best resume out the 3 of them.
