Reminded me a little bit of the Wimby 2015 SF against Murray except Murray played miles better than Djokovic today and still lost. Ridiculous agression and technique from the old wizard.

If Nadal manages to make the SF he will meet Fed, but he needs Medvedev to win against Zverev as well.

Could easily see that happening, unless Med is burned out

Dammit.... needed that goatness against Joker in that 5th set at Wimby. Better late than never I guess. At least he finally has the monkey off his back again and knows he can still beat Joker.

Zverev up a set vs Med.... if he wins the second set too Rafa is out. Looks like Med is fighting back though.

EDIT: Wow. Zverev pulls it off. Straight sets win. Rafa out.

Wow #1, 2, and 4 all out. Good draw for Fed to take it now

Med must have been burned out from all the tennis hes played with how poor he performed here.

Nadal wins epic match, gets the #1 trophy, is eliminated haha so bizarre. good for him on another year end though

Old man Fed goes 1/12 on BP's against Tsitsipas. Smh lol

The weirdest chit rn is that Zverev is only 2 wins away from defending his WTF title after a garbage season by his standards.

Guess Fed blew his load against Joker lol.

ATP Final organizers must be thrilled that none of the big 3 will be in the final.

    in a nutshell:

    - new format for Davis Cup since this year starting with a group format of 3 teams instead of knock-out system like before

    - 2 best seconds from the groups also advance to the next round, ranking is based on total matches/sets/games won

    - Canada already certain of first place with a 2-0 lead against USA, forfaits the 3th match that didn't matter anymore to them so a 6-0 6-0 win for USA which could've been important in the final standings / they said they were injured lol

    - Australia did more or less the same against Belgium the next day, only difference is they showed up and played 1 game before forfaiting because "injured" lmfao

    sportsmanship obviously

imagine you don't advance to the QF because a team that got a 6-0 6-0 forfait victory finishes above you with 1 more won game or something

In other news Nadal just won his 26th Davis Cup singles match in a row.

He has not lost a Davis Cup match since he was 17.

    Fair point.

We should've sent more players to go play the meaningless doubles match for these types of scenarios.

    Thanks for awaring brah

Not sure what to make of the new Davis Cup. Obviously players still enjoy playing for the countries, even Kygs is hyped and Fognini was playing dubs at 2am and still somehow focused, but the format is still wonky. Playing dubs till 4am u wot m8, the forfeiting and the already overly full schedule.

Edit: I do like the 2 singles 1 doubles match format though. Really puts doubles in the spotlight. Doubles is so much fun and so entertaining but rarely gets views.

IMO the best way to do it is just make a tennis world cup every 4 years, so 2020 olympics, 2022 WC, etc. Make it last two or three weeks and replace it with the ATP WTFs and let the winner organize it every year.

Curious how the format/schedule might change moving forward. They jam packed a lot into a week. Maybe doing it over 2 weekends and one week will be how it's done in future years.

Suck Pospisil didn't get a chance to play Sunday. Bautista-Agut played very well vs Felix but it's always tough as a fan to see your guy lose when he clearly has more weapons at his disposal.
Shapo played a great 2nd set but Rafa gonna Rafa.

Excited for Canadian tennis moving forward. If our guys can avoid major injuries we could have 3 in the top 20 and 4 in the top 30 in 2020.

It just takes one to spring board many others. Raonic came through and it has driven Canadian tennis much further had he not. Now like you saycif we can get 3 in the Top 20, more and more talent will develop

Goffin keeping team Belgium alive in the ATP Cup QF by beating Nadal (!) to even the score 1-1

don't think the doubles team stands a chance later today though

strange nothing has been posted about this tournament yet, I love these events where the players represent their country lol

too bad they raped the Davis Cup format

for those not aware, this is the KO bracket for this first edition of the ATP Cup

Yeah Im still on the fence about the whole thing. The matches seem good, the players turn up and its the start of the season when most players are fit.

I just wish all the tennis bodies could come up with one standard country format instead of having 3 different ones.

Dream draw so far for the organizers, with a possible Nadal-Djokovic final for the first edition.

also lol @ zverev continuing to be a trainwreck, it's getting a little sad now.
Tsitsipas' meltdown was fairly funny too.

There honestly was a lot of good tennis before Nadal lost, but Nadal losing when playing for Spain is kinda exceptional.

Tsitsipas hitting his own dad with his racket lol
Zverev shouting at his dad and making him cry
Shapo vs Djokovic and the crowd going wild
Aussies making it to the SF with Kyrgios being the hero, winning 18-16 in the deciding tb
    Medvedev bullying Lahyani lmao

So joker reigns supreme. Dude goes hard in Australia somehow. Props to him for carrying team Serbia, even through the doubles which usually isn't his forte at all.

Also shout out to Troicki for making up for his massive Davis Cup choke lol
