    Coming up...

    Laver Cup with Djokovic
    Beijing
    Shanghai
    Basel
    Paris
    ATP Finals

With Novak back in the saddle it should be an interesting end to the season. Nadal announced he's skipping Davis Cup so expect him to be fully rested for the Asian HC swing where he'd be targeting a 5th YE#1. Novak is defending nothing and Nadal 1280. #1 will probably be decided at the ATP Finals.

It's a shame he feels this way because he's wrong. Look at where he used to stand to return Sampras' serve and that was back when surfaces were servebot friendly. One of the greatest ball strikers would have done just fine against them if he wanted it enough. Davydenko had peak Nadal's measure on HC winning 6 out of 8. Agassi was far superior to Davydenko.

Yeah, I disagree with him too. His ability to take the ball so early would be a great weapon today. If he actually loved the sport early on, he’d undoubtedly have more slams.

In years to come if Zverev and co. are feasting on slams I hope one of those 3 is not behind a mic saying "yeah I couldn't compete at this level today."

Federer's FH in 2004 was scary and he double bageled Hewitt in the final, the same guy who had spent something like 80 weeks at #1. Despite being 11 years older Agassi gave him his toughest match. Even reached the final the next year and took a set off him 6-2 and pushed the 3rd set to a tiebreak. I have no doubt in 1995 form he would have been a tough opponent for all 3.

Look at the way they were hitting the ball 15 years ago, taking it on the rise, painting the lines, back when slow courts meant clay.

Posts: 1. What's your other profile or should I do some digging?

Not my fault if some people can't handle the truth. It's also not like I'm sitting here saying he'd beat everyone but my favorite. Take your fanboy goggles off and re-read the post and you'll see I stated Agassi at his best would have been a tough matchup for Federer in his prime which is why I included videos. I guess I can't help taking subtle jabs at Federer.

Agassi retired in 2006. He's 16 years older than Nadal and was 35-36 when they played in 2005-2006.

Davydenko did own Nadal on HC while he was ranked #1-2. "lol" if you believe otherwise.

I present to you peak Nadal.

Agassi was a better version of Davydenko. Stronger, fitter, better return, and tougher on the big stage. He's obviously bought into revisionist history and put these guys on a pedestal thinking he couldn't have competed. It's absolute garbage.

I'll take a look. In the meantime explain to me how saying Agassi would be tough for all 3 is a "circle jerk theme?"

If you ever watched the guy when he was at his best it'd be clear if any player from the 90s would have been tough today on slower HC and grass it's him. Took the ball early and was strong off both sides. His return was second to none. I still rate it the best because of the speed of the courts, the quality of the serves he was facing week in week out (Sampras, Ivanisevic, Krajicek, Becker, Philippoussis, Stich, etc.), and his return position.

Anyway I just hope in years to come those 3 aren't talking BS like that in retirement when the likes of Zverev are racking up titles.

Agassi was selling himself short with those comments. He's an OTG, but he's right in one regard, when the big 3 are playing at their top lvl, even now after their prime, their feats are superhuman. Take the AO 2012 final as an example, it is astonishing the lvl of tennis Nadal and Djoker played for almost 6 hours with little sign of drop in intensity, after the adrenaline dropped following the match both of them could barely stand up for the presentation.

The argument that the big 3 have been successful because of the "homogenization" of the courts is flawed imo, all three are geniuses and I argue they would've adaptive to "fast court" conditions.

So, in short. Agassi is a huge fan of Nadal, Fed, and Djoker. Their tennis will never be matched or surpassed IMHO, this is it boyos, we saw THE golden age of tennis, it's all downhill from here.

I agree all of them would have adapted but the point is Agassi would have had it easier in today's slower conditions vs. Sampras who would have found it tough the play the way he did in the 90s. Agassi wouldn't have had to change much at all.

It'll piss you off in years to come if today's younger players are cleaning up after these guys retire knowing they wouldn't have won much at all if they were still around.

    Fukking lol ^^^^

Not surprised at the lengths the Rafa trolls are going to these days. Goodnight sweet *******.

As for Agassi... yeah, he’s definitely selling himself short. He was manical with his fitness and lived to make people “tap out” on the tennis court the same way that Rafa and Joker do these days. His ball striking and return of serve combined with his movement? On today’s slow azz courts? He’d be a menace.

    Awww.

Why did he get banned again?

I’m like the only Rafa fan itt. It’s me and 5 Fed fans (3 of which are tennis warehouse cult like posters).

No idea. He was banned in April. I could look it up but a quick glance at his posting history shows he was active in Trump threads.

Hanging out in R&P... "just lol"

Not doubting Agassi was a great offensive player but he couldn't defend worth a damn. All these 3 guys can attack and defend (some do things better than others) so Agassi wouldn't have anywhere to go vs them as he said about Federer after he lost in the US Open final.

Also Agassi's ROS is not as good as Djokovics lmao.

Mods rarely overturn another mod's ban. Might be better to talk to the admin and say you'd like another chance and promise you'll never post in R&P again which is bad for your health anyway. Look at the sh*t we give each other in here. See if I've ever negged anyone. So it's a fact you're safer in here.

    1. Novak has never looked as comfortable against big servers. That's where Murray and Federer have the edge IMO. In Agassi's case he wasn't just facing a Raonic serve once in a slam he was coming up against a serve like that several times in a tournament.

    2. Novak has spent most of his time looking like the ROS GOAT on slow-medium pace courts against baseliners who aren't going to punish a weak return like a S&V who is coming in on most serves. We can speculate about how he'd fair on fast HC, grass, and indoor carpet against an army of servebots but with Agassi we don't have to because he did it week in week out for most of his career.

    3. I think the GOAT debate is pointless because it's difficult to compare different eras so when it comes to return GOAT I'd rather say Agassi was the best returner in the 90s and Novak is the best in the last 15 years.
