Tight butthole match from Thiem and Nadal. Still have to rewatch the match but seems like he played better when it mattered; in the tiebreaks.
Both with very positive Winners / UF ratios, which is pretty sick. Props to Thiem, and I hope he gets past this terminator version of Zverev that seems to have replaced him srs. Figure Thiem can give Djokovic more of a challenge.
Also butthurt the aus open doesnt play both SFs on Friday. Now I cant watch Fed vs Djokovic.
Question for neutrals do you consider the Australian Open to be the lesser of all the grand slams? How do you rank the 4 grand slams in importance?
1) Aus Open
2/3) Roland Garros / Wimby
4) US Open
In terms of prestige I really don't care. Aus Open usually delivers with most players being fit. Roland Garros has supreme clay aesthetics but hasn't had a good competitive draw in a while. Nadal still won, but atleast had memorable victories in like 2013, 2014. Wimbledon I don't care too much for, feel wise, but has been absolute FIRE in terms of the draw and entertainment in the later stages so those two are kind of weird opposite versions of each other IMO. In terms of feel, atmosphere, playstyle and looks tbh.
US Open is garbage honestly, it hasn't been very exciting the past few years, except for Medvedev's run last year which was a fever dream. Lowest point was 2016 US Open imo. That chit was straight up a dumpster fire.

[Federer] has never handed an opponent a walkover across more than 400 Grand Slam matches, never retired from any of his more than 1,500 tour-level matches.

Props to Fed for even playing the match, you never know what can happen. I would guess he talked to his trainers and they said there wasn't much of a risk to further aggravate the injury if he played, or i doubt he would have been out there. Regardless, other players should take a note from him.
Too bad he has the most insufferable fanbase in all of sports.
