We are in Columbia, so 100 miles inland but still expecting sustained 50 mph winds and a ton of rain. I have a ton of trees around the house and a basement (that flooded in our big flood in 2015)...so...a little apprehensive but nothing like the folks on the coast.

It's when they get a couple years older and the parents already think their kid is D1 scholarship bound that it becomes unbearable (to me anyway).

This area is pretty competitive from what I've heard. Some leagues or teams start stacking teams from tee ball. Ridiculous. This team doesn't seem like that though. They all suck, lol, and just want to hit and chase the ball around. I need to start with the basics for sure but their attention span is nonexistent. I told the parents straight up that I'm not here to coach your 7 year old into the majors and that I'm about having FUN while learning HOW to play baseball. I have a lot of work to do!

So, the rule of thumb for attention span is 1 minute for every year of their age. 7 year old's have about a 7 minute attention span.

I was 12 during Hugo when it was still a Cat 1 over Columbia. That was scary but I barely remember it except for it being scary. This should be somewhere around TD or TS over Columbia. I just have a ton of pine trees within falling distance of my roof. I can handle the basement flood. Tree through roof will be another story.

I helped coach a little league girls basketball team years ago. The hardest part is dealing with the parents. Ever parent thinks their kid is the star player and will go pro if you (the coach) will just let them play. Our kids were so young we didn't keep score and the parents still screamed and yell about fouls being called and not being called. haha
