I was in 2nd grade when the news of it happened. Next thing you know we are all being evacuated, but they didn't tell you why. You go home turn on the TV and you see the WTC on fire, people running and screaming. Time flew by like it was nothing, now its nearly 2 decades later. Amazing.
Remember those that have fallen, few of my classmates at the time had family working. R.I.P.

Third grade. One by one, my classmates were getting picked up by their parents and I had no clue what was happening. I eventually got picked up.
My best friend's mom was in one of the towers, luckily she made it out.
Even in a world that lacks civility, we all can agree this was among worst days ever. It changed and defined the lives of so many loved ones"They'll tell you failure is not an option. That is ridiculous. Failure is always an option. Failure is the most readily available option at all times, but it's a choice. You can choose to fail or you can choose to succeed. But failure is always there, and it's okay to recognize that."- Chael P. Sonnen

Was getting ready for school. Living room tv had some documentary on when suddenly footage of the twin towers burning with a news reel came up and I thought "wow, what a strange way to advertise a new Hollywood movie".
RIP to the victims and a salute to those who risked their lives to save others.Go Canucks Go!

Sixth grade; watched it on the news before school and ended up having an assembly at school where they told us what happened and what it meant for us (the country).

that was the first day i got high before school. I was in 8th grade. I remember walking into math class and the TV's were on and the teacher looked concerned but all the kids were ****ing off. I asked what the world trade center was, then 2 seconds later me and my buddies started talking about something else cause none of us knew what the world trade center was and it didn't really have any affect on us in that moment. It wasn't until later that I learned it was a huge deal and all that. I remember when bush declared war too, I was breaking up a brick of that mexican devil lettuce taking out all the sticks and seeds, twisting some up, haha.
Good things take time.

Was ready crew that day. An hour in to our trainer, flying around on a C130 doing touch and goes. ATC suddenly ordered every single plane to land at which ever airport is the closest, but they allowed us to return to our home field.

I was getting ready for school, I watched it in my living room with my mom. My dad was a Fighter pilot at the time and had already been on base for a while, not sure what his day was like.
I'm curious as to how 9/11 would be received if it were to happen today in 2018. With the left dominating the media and being all-around anti-American, I feel like they'd put out some divisive garbage about how this is our faults or Trump's fault. I'm not sure we would have been as unified as we were back in 2001.

I was like 22 at the time. I woke up and turned on the television before going to work just as the first plane hit. I figured it was just a TV show or movie at first glance and then I had do do a double take as I quickly realized it was no movie. A little bit later the second plane hit and then everyone knew it was deliberate and a lot of us wondered if we'd have to be drafted to war like in Vietnam or something. Of course the scenes just got worse from there and you watched as all those people went down with the first tower, then the second. It was one of those moments that's frozen in your mind forever. Even though I was only watching it on TV it was very surreal, and I'll never forget the sound of the chirping PASS system sirens. It's like whenever you hear them on a documentary or something it takes you back to the heavy chested feeling of watching it live.

1st grade ready to go to my second week of school. Couldn't figure out why my dad was still home. We lived across the street from one of the largest military bases in the US, which had mobilized and shut down the streets, freeway, and had Humvees rolling through our street. It was cool at that time, to see tanks being loaded up on the trains. The planes and towers looked fake to me at that time. Would not want something like that to happen again. Might be drafted next time around.

11th Grade 1st Period AP English. Not sure if most schools have these, but we had tvs that would play Channel one in the AM and they all turned on at the same time. So the school turned them all on and we were supposed to watch but none of us cared. We kept on with classes by 2nd period
