They had it on the corvette forum somewhere, I think, that they are doing a v8 and a v8 turbo. They are going to be pretty beastly but guessing pretty pricey. Who knows if accurate but floating starting price of 70k.

If the C8 is amazing the entire mid-engine market might undergo an adjustment.
As it is McLaren is already producing mid-engine V8 monsters that are faster and/or cheaper than many competing cars. Having the C8 in the mix will introduce further disruption.
In my car club we are already seeing far more McLarens than Ferraris. The Huracan is the only reason the Lambos are holding their ground.
On the last cruise I went on I think half of the total Lambos were Huracans and there were as many McLarens as there were Ferraris.
I would love to see a min-engine price war between the Corvette, Lamborghini, Ferrari and McLaren.
There should also be one hell of a price war between mid-engine hybrids by 2025:

There is no 2014 z06.
But it doesn't even matter because every year, around this time, GM drops the prices on brand new z06's at almost 20 grand. So a z06 that was once 88-90k MSRP is now 68-70k at year end. Brand new z06 with 650hp and exotic supercar looks for under 70k lol. You can't beat it.
With the debut of the C8, depending if there's going to be an FE version or just an ME, will determine how far prices drop for the Z's and GS's. Don't forget the ZR1 is hovering around there and if there is NO FE model for the C8, expect ZR1 prices to really become stable. And i won't be surprised that used 19 ZR1's will be the same price as they go for brand new.
However it does take 2-3 years before GM perfects a certain model. The 18-19 z06's seem to work out all the bugs that the 15-17 z06's had. The only issue still is how sensitive the GM computer is. Meaning if you just put a PTB (ported throttle body), the computer freaks out and throws a CEL. Whereas with a 15-16 z06 you can do a bunch of bolt ons and with no CEL. It was more forgiving.
I honestly can't wait for the C8 because i want to upgrade. I love my C7Z but newer is always better and if GM can get this mid engine corvette right, and if it comes with a PROPER AUTO and not that chitty 8 speed they covered all the C7 models with, then THAT will be the car to get, own, and keep for a long long time.
But i'll be getting the C8 z06 version or whatever high performance model they come out with. Definitely not doing a base C8.

Sounds like someone who is a closet fan of the corvette but could never own one, whether it's because he's unable to due to kids/wife or because he/she can't afford it lol. So they default into talking chit about it. Simple psychology.
If the C8 will have both the FE and ME models, i expect C7 prices to go down. All of them. Even the ZR1's.
If they finally introduce the new DOHC V8, expect that to be NA for base and some sort of FI for the high performance models.
I do see some 6cyl version thrown in the mix. Like some sort of eco-boost 6 cyl somewhere. Whether the base FE model or a high performance FE model while keeping the V8 variants for the ME models.
Either way, it's a great time to be a corvette fan/owner/enthusiast. They are on the right step with the C7. It finally has the looks of an exotic. Love the C6 and previous gens but GM is finally opening peoples eyes with the C7, hopefully it will get better with the C8.

My father in law is a GM lifer and worked at GM his entire career. He trades up into a new Z06 every year and was getting ready to buy a ZR1. He reached out to catch up with one of his friends at GM that is one of R&D engineers on the Zora. The engineer told him the numbers the Zora is putting up are simply ludicrous and to not to waste money on the ZR1. He told my father in law the new Zora is going to make a lot of exotics rethink their life decisions...
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the full release and the specs...

I think the idea of a mid-engined corvette is stupid and it will hurt the car.
The Corvette has always been a blue-collared hero. If they make it mid-engine its going to enter another price point. Also mid-engined cars are more troublesome and expensive to service.
Also with the corvette being a V8 (vs a 2.0 or 2.5L Flat 4 like the Cayman/Boxster), it will seriously lack trunk/frunk space.
Also with the mid-engined corvette inevitably costing more than a FR, they will sell less of them. And surely they do not plan to make both mid-engined and FR corvettes side by side.
So I really fail to see where this leads to.
Maybe they should have just introduced another car all together and not called it a corvette at all. That way they could MORE justify charging more than just charging more and still calling it a corvette.IW3725-04, Black 116520, White 26320

Mid-engine layout is a very Corvette thing to do. The idea of a mid-engine Corvette has been around since the 50s - rumors have surrounded the release of every single generation of the Corvette.
On one hand, the Corvette needs to go mid-engine to improve its performance numbers. The performance potential of the front-engine Corvette has been pretty much been maxed out with the C7 ZR1 - there's really nowhere else the Corvette can go from here to keep improving.
On the other hand, the idea of the Corvette being the "blue-collared hero" is kind of diminished by being mid-engine rather than front-engine. But doesn't the Camaro now pretty much match the Corvette on the race track anyways?
I had figured the C8 would remain the front-engine blue-collared hero the Corvette always has been, and the mid-engine variant would either be a premium trim (still carrying the Corvette name - raising the pedigree of the brand even higher) or even cooler IMO it is branded as a Cadillac.

Considering the camaro ZL1 with the A10 can outperform a C7Z with the A8 really raises questions.
The C7 ZR1 is the peak of what they can do, that's why they shifted over to mid engine. Take a crack at challenging the exotics, for a fraction of the cost.
Plus what a good way to debut the new DOHC NA V8.
Whatever the case is, i can't wait to upgrade to the C8. But i'm not doing a base model. Gotta be a Z or whatever high performance model they call it.

Yea like I said, It would be a better idea for them to introduce it as another model, something not called a corvette. because see below
The camero can never replace the corvette. No matter how much more practical or as fast it is. Because the corvette is a image/brand/icon, its not simple a track time.IW3725-04, Black 116520, White 26320
