There were (and still are) mandates in some places like local grocery stores, restaurants, etc but it’s funny...you’ll go to a restaurant that has a sign up on their front window, “mandating” mask wearing but you get inside, and no one is wearing one. (or very few) lol
But, that’s only been in the last few weeks. Does NY still have pretty tight restrictions?

Yes. Basically everywhere indoors you are required to wear one except restaurants while consuming food, and those restaurants are mandated to be at low capacity. NY just finally ruled you can go for a walk outside without a mask, lmao. I mean I am pro mask when it's appropriate but I always laughed at the idea of wearing a mask while taking my dogs for a walk, especially since I'd never come within 10 feet of anyone anyway. I never did that chit, and most people wouldn't unless it's a crowded outdoor area. I am having hopes of things normalizing this summer, and I can't wait.

Lol Same for walking, running, etc. I wasn’t going to wear a mask when I’m running alone with no one around me, but for everywhere else - I wear one. I think things will slowly go back to normal, but then I see India and I’m like what is happening there?!
Change of topic but what kind of dogs do you have?

Any of you guy’s or girls have an aquarium? I have a 20-25 gallon or somewhere around there. Currently I just have a catfish.
- Your mindset influences your outcome. It's time to take out phrases like "I can't" or "I don't have time" and replace them with phrases like "I will make the time" and "I will keep working at it until I find a way that works." Success starts with the right mindset and believing in yourself and your dreams.

I am 1 dose into my Pfizer vax BTW after waiting and trying to get JnJ forever and failing repeatedly. Anyone else on Vax Master Race? It won't change the way I live much to be honest except I'll go maskless more often in small groups of people I know who are vaxed and might consider going out to eat again. However, I think I generally will just feel safer living life. I am excited for my 2nd dose, hopefully AEs Don't rek me.
From what I hear India did it to themselves for a few reasons. Very low vaccination numbers, very low mask use, and then they had huge religious mass gatherings not ;omg before things got really bad.
But we'll see since that Covid variant from India rekts us since it is now here. But I've heard a couple educated people speak to it and kinda say in their mind it's more the practices in India than the variant.
Two rescue pits.
Why?
I currently have a 20 cube with one celestial pearl danio and a few res riding hood shrimp. I had a lot die off for some reason my live plants are doing well though and it looks good.

How often do you all do water changes / vacuum?

I was already eating out, gym when quiet, and doing stuff outdoors. But generally avoided crowds, wore mask with people around or inside, socially distanced where feasible etc.
Now I’ve had the Pfizer, I’ll be loosening up more once 2-3 weeks hits (92%+ effectiveness). I’ll be fully back to normal life, restrictions withstanding. I’ll go to bars, events, etc.
Like I said before, I think you lean slightly too hard on your own personal risk profile. Mostly for me it’s been about not giving it to older or at-risk folk.𝕮𝖍𝖆𝖘𝖊 𝖆 𝖈𝖍𝖊𝖈𝕶, 𝖓𝖊𝖛𝖊𝖗 𝖈𝖍𝖆𝖘𝖊 𝖆 𝖇𝖎𝖙𝖈𝖍

Vacuum never
Water changes once every other week
Keep in mind most of my fish died
You are brave.
Thing is I don't feel like I am missing all that much. I am not dying to do social things. In fact I kinda love the excuse to do less social stuff. Yes, if Covid dissapeared I would act differently and I will act a bit differently when fully vaxed but I am far from feeling like I am missing out right now, and it some ways I oddly like this better. Everyone's desires are different.

I’m not brave at all. I just recognize my own personal risk is incredibly low. I have a healthy immune system and no preconditions.
We apply risk profiles to everything in life, every time you get in your car there’s a risk of death or great bodily harm. The media magnifies worst cases as per design. Our cognitive biases inflate risk via continued exposure. They evolved that way, when it was useful and well calibrated.
If the front page of the news every day was about yesterday’s paralysis caused by a car crash, you’d probably have more fear getting into your car. Normalizing against the data is critical.𝕮𝖍𝖆𝖘𝖊 𝖆 𝖈𝖍𝖊𝖈𝕶, 𝖓𝖊𝖛𝖊𝖗 𝖈𝖍𝖆𝖘𝖊 𝖆 𝖇𝖎𝖙𝖈𝖍

Been 2 cases at work when they hired a lab to come in and test everyone and no one else was infected. Changed companies and two infections but no one else got sick after. But I do know people who know people who have died. I'm just pretty sure it won't be me and my parents are vaccinated. But I wouldn't be suprised if I already had it back before it was even really news

I really don't think I am influenced by media whatsoever. Again, going out to eat just isn't that important to me. If getting BJs gave me the save risk of Covid I wouldn't give up BJs as easily as I gave up going out to eat.
And yes, Covid has very little chance of killing you or I but there is a greater chance of it making my life miserable. I know more people who have spent days in the hospital due to Covid than a car crash. And driving a car is necessary for my job which is necessary to earn a salary which is much more desirable to me than going out to eat.
Personal desires also come into play when an individual decides what may be too risky or worth it to them.

They do indeed, because there's a cost/benefit. The benefit sounds like it's incredibly low to you. I like to go out to eat at least once per week.
I also dated and met a couple of girls at the height of covid. That was another risk that easily payed off, because I've been seeing her for months.
Also, I think we're all influenced by the media and what we're exposed to. If you don't think you are, you probably are even more because you aren't actively countering it.𝕮𝖍𝖆𝖘𝖊 𝖆 𝖈𝖍𝖊𝖈𝕶, 𝖓𝖊𝖛𝖊𝖗 𝖈𝖍𝖆𝖘𝖊 𝖆 𝖇𝖎𝖙𝖈𝖍

Yea. I mean if I were single I'd be out every weekend mingling with seedy unknowns, but risk would be worth it to me. I didn't see family this Xmas, it sucked it some ways but honestly I found many aspects of that very nice as well, not as much gift buying, no packing, no traveling, more of my time off work allotted to personal time. While I know for some people not being with family absolutely wrecked them. Everyone is different
You may be right. I have for years now taken the approach to watch both far left and right media and be sure to be critical and question opinions and things I hear. I believe I am less influenced by media than the majority of people. But open to the fact I am self-biased to an extent as most humans are.
