Awesome work on that session today Shane! Solid sets on rows. Sorry to hear that you got two back and then lost them again. At least you guys are actually mindful of this stuff. I could have gone to work with covid this week and nobody would have thought anything of it... None of our employees pay any attention to it. They wear a mask when we go places in public but could care less in the car on in the office. It puts me in a pretty awkward position... Hang in there brother!

Thank you Trent. It’s nuts out there right now. I am actually sitting in an urgent care waiting on a Strep and COVID test right now. My son brought strep home from school and my wife and him both have it but both also tested negative for COVID.

Supposed to be getting some more people back this week. Crossing my fingers no one else will be missing.

Last week kicked my azz. Going to try to get back on track today and string together some workouts this week.

Decent day. Knee is pretty sore today. I was on my feet all day yesterday. Had a 23k step day and most the other days were all over 15k. One month removed from knee surgery I would say I probably need a week of lighter duty this week.

Skipped push-ups and did 50 pound flat DBs for reps. That’s tough too!

Man, that's one hell of a chest session Shane! Great job on bench and the rest of it is no joke either. Love the way you wrapped it up with flat dumbbells for reps too. Sounds like things were quite hectic down there last week. Sorry to hear that your wife and son have strep. We kept our daughter out of school this year (online only) since we figured it would be a mess (which has so far proven to be a good decision). So despite the pandemic, this has been the healthiest year of mine and my family's life. Lol. I haven't been sick since catching the flu (or covid) in Vegas, exactly one year ago this week. But I know as soon as we put my daughter back in school (or son in preschool next year) that we may as well block off a month or two for being sick nearly constantly. Our time is coming... Anyway, hope you can stay healthy and stay off your feet some this week. Doing 15K+ days back to back is tough even without a knee injury. Hang in there brother!

Thank you Trent. Yep, work was nutty last week. This damn Covid is going to make us tough or break all of us. We kept my son out of school for much the same reason last year. However with him being autistic, online learning is really tough on him. We saw a big regression with keeping him home so the risk was worth it for us to send him back. Our school system did shut down for 2 weeks at the beginning of the year. 400 teachers had covid in our county after the holidays. It seems they didn't follow the social distancing and staying home for holidays plan.

Strep and Covid came back negative! Yay. They gave me a prescription for antibiotics just in case but I don't plan to take them unless I get much worse. I feel ok today and over the counter cold meds are controlling my symptoms. That is a win.

Alright! Glad to hear you are covid and strep free! Yeah, I could see that about your son. Our daughter is doing OK, but we have walked in and found her searching the internet for stuff while her class is going in the background, which is terrifying. We are getting a crash course on parental controls. I just think it is bad in general to have kids on a screen for 5-6 hours per day. That is really unhealthy. We are probably going to move anyway in the next few months so this is probably a good year to do that due to the covd/school stuff.

Thank you Trent! No covid thank God and my son's rapid test today came back negative so he can go back to school tomorrow.

Yeah the internet opens up a whole new world to our kids.

Hopefully if you are moving you don't find the same thing we are. We are finding very little inventory in our city. Things are being purchased as fast as they are hitting the market. Makes our house easy to sell but finding one to get into is another story.

I'm glad you're doing well and cautiously pushing yourself. I'm still in lockdown and not very motivated to post my workouts with 20 lb. DB's. Good to read your son and family are good too.

Wow Shane, in the time I was away this week it sounds like you've had an eventful time. Sorry to hear your wife and son were sick, but glad to hear everyone is negative for Covid.

Sorry to hear the knee has been hurting too. Nice job getting the other back work in. Sounds like you're on a good path with that.

Nice job on the bench the other day too. 11 reps on a 5+ day is awesome.
If in doubt, squat and run hills. So you walk into the gym and don't know what to do? Then squat and run hills. Have a miserable day at work and want to break someone's neck but aren't sure who's? Then squat and run hills. - Wendler

Thank you for the well wishes. I can understand the lack of motivation. Keep doing what you can. Motion is lotion. Keep moving.

Thank you Greg. Son and wife are both doing good. I now have been fighting off a sinus infection. I have a prescription for antibiotics that were given to me last week when I went in for my test. The nurse figured I would need them with both of them having Strep. Sinus infection is not bad enough to bring out the big guns yet.

I was happy to hit 11 on those.

Finally got my shoulder workout in. No excuses but I am working 6 days a week right now. Leaving for work at 4:45 AM and getting home at 6:00 makes it tough. I really just have to commit and leave and do it lunch this week and get back in a routine.

I have a follow up with my knee Dr tomorrow. I really think it’s my ACL. I guess I will see what he says but I also plan to get a 2nd opinion.

Glad you were able to get some training in despite your extremely demanding work schedule. That sounds insane honestly but you're tough and will get through it. Sorry to hear that you've had some knee pain going on Shane. Sometimes when we hurt things we adjust our stance/posture/etc. and that can aggravate other stuff. When I hurt my foot I went through an entire pair of running shoes to find that I had worn all the tread off the outside of my foot and none on the inside (where I hurt it). I was having knee and hip pain too due to the shift toward the outside, but didn't realize that was what it was until I looked at the bottom of my shoes. Not saying that is what your issue is but it might be... Anyway, hope your appointment goes well brother. As much as you've been on your feet while recovering from surgery I'm not surprised you are having pain. Shoot, I'd be having pain just from being on my feet that much and I'm not recovering from surgery.

That superbowl sure was boring yesterday. I wasn't picturing a blowout out and then when they won it seemed pretty mild, especially for a home game. I guess when you've won that many it starts to get routine...

Almost forgot about this. It's the same here man. According to the people who rank the best places to live and hottest job markets, where we live in Cary tops many of the lists of best places to live in the country and Raleigh/Durham is one of the hottest job markets. I understand that its nice. It is much nicer than many areas I've seen in this country, but it's not like it's Beverly Hills or something... (Sorry had to complain..) Nearly every house that goes on the market here sells in one day. Shoot, we are looking at possibly being able to get $100K more for our home now than what we purchased it for less than two years ago. It kind of makes me want to sell high, rent for a while and then buy another house once prices go back down (if that actually happens). I just hate renting. You are usually paying like $500 more per month for some junky old house that you would never buy in a million years. Plus you're missing out on making money on your house appreciating in value. Not to mention moving SUCKS.

We drove around west Cary yesterday looking at new neighborhoods and literally every one of them started in the $700K-$1 Million range. I was just shaking my head and laughing. I mean shoot, I could live at the beach in California for that much money. Lol

Good looking workout yesterday Shane. My shoulders feel blasted just reading about it...especially those 3 sets of 20 on Shrugs at the end.

I hope your Dr appointment went well today.

Thank you Trent. I am lucky to be this busy so I am not complaining but getting training in has been tough. Going forward I just have to make myself set time aside and go do it. It is funny you mention foot ware because I actually used my running shoes today instead of these new HOKA hiking boots that I have been using. They are super plush like my shoes but a boot which is a little warmer. Made a difference as my knee hurt less this morning than it had been. I figured this out because I walked around yesterday mostly barefoot in my house and my knee wasn't bothering me as much this morning so I figured it could be tied back to my new foot ware that is cause additional extra pain.

Superbowl was boring and was hoping for a better showing from the Chiefs. Brady really has cemented his GOAT status leaving New England and still making it to the Superbowl. I knew the Chiefs were in trouble when pre-game they were talking about them missing both of their starting tackles. I don't think it would have mattered though because they looked unstoppable with their defense and how Brady was playing.

I hear you on the housing search. My area, Woodstock Ga, is really a popular area as well. Housing prices are ridiculous right now and like you I could sell mine for a good 100K more than what it was worth 2 years ago. Wife and I have decided that if our house comes to us then fine, if not we will ride it out and see how the market looks next year.

Housing prices are insane in the Portland, Oregon metro area as well. They jumped a considerable amount in the last year and a half.

    Kroc Rows
    15 x 60
    15 x 60
    15 x 60

    Lat Pulls
    12 x 105 wide
    10 x 105 underhand
    10 x 115 wide
    10 x 115 underhand

Fat man row (from BP position)
    15,15,15
This would be a good warm up exercise

    Seated Front Plate Raise(traps)
    20 x 25
    20 x 25
    20 x 25

    V Grip lat pulls
    12 x 115
    12 x 115
    12 x 115

That’s it for today. Decent work put in at around 40 minutes.

Knee Dr gave me a cortisone shot. Knee is feeling a lot better. He says my pain is because of the need for the other knee surgery to replace cartilage in my knee. He says that my ACL wouldn’t hurt as it doesn’t have nerve endings. He said it looked like my ACL had torn and repaired itself some time back and that is why he mentioned it at a previous visit.

Cortisone has my knee feeling much better. Pain went from a 7 down to a dull 3 so that is a win. Going to have to try to keep from being a jerk and walking a ton of steps daily again.

I am giving it a couple days to think about and research my surgery some more and then I will probably go get a 2nd opinion.

Yeah I think they are nuts everywhere. It seems COVID really put a beating on new homes being built and there is a nationwide shortage.

Thank you Trent. Knee is still feeling ok so that’s good. Nope, that was all I had man!

    Sunday
    Cardio
    Peloton
    30 minutes
    413 Cals

That’s it. Went to another Dr on Thursday afternoon to get a second opinion on my blood clots. Glad I did. Apparently the first Dr. I went to is more of a varicose vein type of place and is more toward the appearance side. The Dr I went to Thursday was a vascular surgeon.

Both suggested same course of action to deal with the clots. However the vascular surgeon made me feel better that these clots are not in the main arteries and are not nearly as dangerous as I thought they were. I still need to take blood thinner, but I can add in some lower impact cardio without worrying.

I can’t get my second knee surgery for 6 months because apparently after getting a cortisone shot your risk of infection goes way up. So leg days for 6 months are going to be iffy as I really need my knee to last me 6 months on this cortisone shot.

My Dr also made a suggestion to not go heavy on weights while taking blood thinner because a muscle tear would not be good. Nice.

As a way to stay sane I really have to stop focusing on what I can’t do and more on what I can while all this **** gets sorted.

Going to be doing a body part split with 8-12 reps with rowing and biking as cardio. About the same as I have been doing but I am dropping 531 reps for now.

Good plan! Think of this as a forced working rest period. I see no reason why you can't meet your goals and abide by this at the same time. I know its tough not to answer the call to lift heavy but its better to do that than not lifting at all because of a permanent injury or condition.
If you're thinking about strength loss, don't worry about it. It comes back fast. My guess is that after 6 months doing this current plan it will take a max of a month to get back to your former strength levels plus you'll still have your muscle mass.
Keep your head up my friend.

Appreciate it. Also appreciate the greens.

The goal of being more muscular and less fat is always the plan so I should be able to do that without having to lift heavy. Well at least the less fat part.

Appreciate it. You do the same!
