26-year-old male, 5'8" with 12% body-fat. 153 lbs. How is my diet? It's about 3400 calories. I have a hard time gaining weight. I'm gaining weight with this diet about 1 lbs every week or so. Is this diet healthy? Can it be better?
Breakfast:
3 large eggs with veggies (3 of any: grape tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, and/or hot peppers)
1 whole grain toast (Dave's Killer Bread - Good Seed) with butter
Green tea with ginger mixed with honey and lemon
Post-Workout Smoothie:
ON 100% Whey or Kaged Muscle Whey Protein (1 scoop), 1 cup of milk (Lactaid), 1/4 cup of plain whole greek yogurt, 2 tbsp of peanut butter, 1 banana. Blended into a smoothie.
1/2 cup of old-fashioned oatmeal with 1 tbsp of honey, some cinnamon powder, 1/4 cup of almonds, and raspberries/blueberries on top.
Lunch:
4 oz. of chicken breast with sauce (bbq or masala sauce)
4 oz. of baked sweet potatoes
4 oz. of asparagus or broc****
Lunch #2:
Love Crunch Granola Cereal 1/4 cup with almond milk (Coconut Dark Choc)
Organic Whole Grain Toast with 1 tbls of peanut butter or butter
1 red apple
Dinner:
Mix Greens salad with some walnuts, craisins, feta cheese, with low-fat balsamic vinegar dressing
4 oz of grass-fed beef (burger) with 1 slice of extra sharp cheddar, 1 whole wheat bun, onions, peppers, and organic ketchup/mustard.
Looks well balanced to me. Mix in some salmon occasionally perhaps. Might want to throttle back a little if you continue gaining 1lb per week. It will probably slow down a little, .5 per week would allow you to run your surplus longer with minimal fat gain.
