Didn't know that happened in 1.12. I would expect a large amount of backlash considering how much people miss classic AV.

Legit spent 18 hours in one AV before back in the day. I miss having literally nothing else to do with my time, just went back and forth before we (Alliance) won. Had a great time.

As long as they have multi-queue I'll be happy. I remember never having an AV pop until they added that in.

And then of course it got ruined by the PvE players farming mats to open the gates. I trolled the chit out of them though, they got pissed at me but no cares in the world.

on Classic it will be the same thing. some games will end up being zergs, when a group is coordinated. some games will end up being long battles.


I also expect that a lot of people will go out of there way to intentionally make AV's a turtle in classic WoW just for fun

I was never able to do a single AV on private servers, but i heart some of them buffed NPCs and other things to extend the battles.

In the end, efficiency is what killed those classic AV wars. In 1.8 they introduced Marks of Honor as a reward once you finished the BG, so it became more efficient to just quickly finish AV to get 1-3 Marks. Blizzard should have made Marks obtainable by AV quests or accomplishments. They could also have modified Field of Strife in some way to make it difficult to just run past each other. But they can't change it now.

But something to consider if they ever make WoW 2.

Blizz have confirmed some items are improved and placed differently and others are going to drop from mobs they originally never intended to. There are added items as well.

Honestly I dont mind this because some items were just chit tier and rose tinted glasses doesn't add anything in that regard for them. ANd AV can fuk off with its multi-day long battles. PVP premades stuck mostly to WSG and AB but the odd group would do AV and get some quick honour.

If you want to pvp like a spastic in the middle go and do that but hell naw you aint stopping people from beating the BG.

False, you can walk through other players in WOW, so chokepoints are not a thing.

In games like Age of Conan this would be a valid point.

If people cap a key graveyard the long run from the previous one spreads out attackers since people are usually too stupid to wait and go as a group, so they trickle in a few at a time and just die again, repeating the process.

That is a bit of a stretch to call a chokepoint.
But your point is clearer now.

And yes, I did play AV classic.
My wife was more PVP focused though. She made it to Marshal before I forced her to scale back her dedication to PVP.

Been playing with my bro on Nighthaven private server and burnt out on vanilla but luckily they coming out with TBC server here within next couple months and you can transfer 58+. Will be playing that and pass on blizzards which kind of sucks but TBC was the goat.

Hopefully blizzards sucks and doesn't kill all private servers but I'd imagine a lot will still play since they don't want to pay $15

EDIT: TipsOut just said that world buffs won't be as prevalent on official Classic servers. So raids will be more challenging.

Dal'rends were easy if nobody else got them or ninja'd them. Plus when you had 1 the luck of it was to see that same 1 drop time and time again and then the other drops and whoa, some fkin warrior gets it.

I wonder if many people remember weapon skill ups. It was 300 skill max and when you got a new weapon you'd realise your skill was 100 below max level. GG deflections, dodges and weaker attacks. L O L.

I remember going to some mobs with intellect potions in my bag to farm skills. They got rid of that eventually but I forgot when.


The server announcement will come in Spring I bet but I intend to avoid those fuks from Russia and Turkey. I cannot stand those people in-game.

We used to do this when I raided with Blitzkrieg; knock Ony out in about 15-20 minutes then run to Naxx. The buff was so worth it. Wish I had done more in Naxx, only ever did the first 2 or 3 bosses before I quite for awhile.

Ya, it'll definitely be different, but I really don't think the raids and bosses are going to be harder like many are claiming. The big mechanic we really don't know is, like you mentioned in cliffs, boss armor and debuff stacking. It could make things harder, possibly on vael because of the resistance thing, but that vid didn't mention that armor values are intentionally buffed for bosses on some private servers and they still get melted. I really don't think it'll be harder.

The procs on weapons are absolutely fuked though. I just read something about kronos' ironfoe is still fuked up. So ya, I do expect BIS weapons and armor to change somewhat. It's also going to depend on what version of the weapons blizz chooses to use. There's a huge difference between 1.0 BRE and 1.12 BRE. Same with the r14 weapons and armor. The originals suck ass while the upgraded versions are BIS for a majority of vanilla. They also buffed and nerfed items throughout vanilla. If they strictly stick to 1.12, items are going to be a lot different on classic.

The honor system though, my god that thing is an entirely different beast which is 100% going to be different. I'm pretty sure every private server modifies their bracket system, and they all have different changes to how pvp queuing works for bgs. No clue what's going to happen for classic.

Yes Onyxia / Nefarion turn in could only occur like twice a day, or only once every 2 hours. something like that

I had a friend who got to Grand Marshal and would spend his time (mage) just going around and finding these guilds and wrecking their sht. All he did was raid then PvP, he was legit good too. Often took on 2-4 people and would camp them.
