    Today I did my squats in jeans.

    I only had 30 minutes to workout before leaving for work today and didn't want to waste time changing. Did my squats in jeans and, wow, they felt easier than ever (after feeling particularly weak doing 5lbs less on Saturday.) I didn't know if they'd be too restrictive or if I'd be able to break parallel in them but they're fairly stretchy and it actually felt great, and I even went slower than normal to really focus on depth.

    Anyone else have this experience? Is wearing tight-ish jeans somehow actually assisting my ability to lift in a noticeable way, or did I just get a great night of sleep? Will America ever switch to the metric system?

    I had a similar experience. I believe they help... Kind of the same way that some powerlifting clothes do

    Yeah of course it is easier. If you knew how to sit into the jeans to "load them" like squat briefs it'd work even better until you blew a seam mid lift and tear a hammy.

    Besides looking like a red blooded 80's lumberjack doing ur squats in jeans, its just probably that they were tight and provided a bit more support for your joints. Much like some of the posters above said.

    However, if squatting in jeans, timberlands, and a wife beater with a mustache makes gains. DO IT

    i personally do squats naked with the garage door open, I feel more aerodynamic and it allows me to better breathe through my balls. All the neighbours be mirin'. Felt amazing. Just my experience.

    It was probably acting to stabilize you, like other posters have noted. That's why I do all my lifts completely naked for maximum muscle recruitment.

    So... old bench shirts ect used to be made of denim.. Think about it.

    Squatting in jeans is gonna be easier, they stretch, store energy and launch you out of the hole.. like single ply gear.

    But are jeans gonna be thick enough, reinforced stitched and designed to not blow the crotch out mid rep? ..

    And like davis said, if you do actually sit into them, they aint gonna hold out and your gonna pop a hip, hit the floor or best case just have ur d hanging out of a ruined pair of jeans. Lol.

    In the early days of powerlifting before squat suits i know some guys squatted in cut off jeans.
    Of course it's going to be easier with the little extra support.
    Just make sure if your logging your workouts to note "in jeans".
    You could have rep/max records for jeans and no jeans.
