I was a lucky recipient in a Nutrabio promo and I was given the opp to try out
and give my honest feedback on this protein so first off I'd like to thank Nutrabio
rep Kon_Rock and Nutrabio for sending me out a 2lb container of the Choc PB and
they also included 2 samples of 2 other flavors Dutch Choc and Alpine Van so I
will be posting my final review on each of these 3 flavors here and in the store.
This is going to be an on going review so I will be posting up how I consume the
flavors and when I've tried it a few times then I'll post my final thoughts.

This ^^^is the ingredient profile of the Choc PB flavor which is the flavor that I have the
2lb container of and before I even talk about taste I notice one thing missing form the
profile and this is something I mention anytime I do a review on a PB based protein.
There is no peanut flour listed in the ingredients and from my experience you need that
in order to have a real peanut flavor in your protein.
I received my container last night when I got home so I didn't waste time putting it
to use and first off I weighed out a scoop which is supposed to be 31.89 gm and one
scoop weighed out to exactly 31 gm so the scoop size is perfect!

Nutrabio Muscle Matrix Protein it's DEFINITELY QUALITY but how does it taste ?

I added 2 level scoops of the Choc PB Matrix protein, with 1 tsp of sugar free
choc pudding powder, 1 heaping tbs of unsalted chunky peanut butter, and a
little water. I mixed all the ingredients together until I had a thick pudding
consistency then I covered the container and placed it in the freezer for a
little over two hrs.

As I was digging into this I couldn't help noticing that I wasn't really tasting any
choc in it and it's suppose to be Choc PB What I was tasting was the
actual peanut butter that I added to it so I really wasn't tasting any PB flavor
from the protein.
This got me thinking that I need to try the Dutch Choc flavor on it's own the next
morning as my post workout shake which I did today.

I went with one of the samples of the Dutch Choc mixed in 6oz of ice cold
water and it mixed very well with no foam or clumping. Flavor wise I honestly
didn't taste much choc if any so it's a very bland choc and it's no wonder I
didn't taste any choc in the frozen pudding. The next sample of Dutch Choc
I'll try it in unsweetened almond milk but I'm a water drinker when comes to
shakes.
I saw a Price Plow review on this same flavor a few months back and they
said the same thing it's way to light on the choc flavoring. I'll give more
feedback on my final review and talk a bit more about some of the other
flavors that I've gone through in the past from Nutrabio.

The texture of the overnight proats was just thick enough thanks to the
micellar casein in the ingredient profile. The flavor though was again like
the protein pudding the night before almost non existent of Choc or PB
and I mostly got an oatmeal flavor.
I WILL be trying this Choc PB next in a shake on my next training day and
see how it taste on it's own.

There really is no beating the profile but I'll go over my thoughts when I do my final review.
I went with a scoop of the Choc PB today post workout after a great back/trap/cardio workout
and I mixed it in 6oz of ice cold water. The protein mixed up perfectly with no foam, sediment,
or clumping and actually this mixes so much better than the Classic Whey which at times I
would get particles floating or clumping but from my experience with other brands that also
use WPC80 this is just a characteristic of WPC80.
Micellar casein can sometimes have problems of clumping but I noticed none of this
happening at all with Muscle Matrix. The texture of the shake is fantastic and as I
mentioned when I tasted the Dutch Choc this because of the micellar casein which
adds just the right amount of thickness and mouthfeel so you actually have the
impression that the shake has been mixed with milk and not water but water is what
I always use in my shakes.
I've been purchasing bulk micellar casein for at least 20 yrs cause I like to add 1 scoop
to whey so that it slows down the digestion and helps keep me feeling full longer than
just drinking a whey shake. I usually only drink a shake when I'm at work in between
breakfast and lunch that's why I like micellar casein so that I can feel satisfied for at
least 2 hrs after drinking and then I have my lunch.

The Choc PB cereal gave it a bit more PB flavor and a bit of crunch and it was a good
last meal of the day.
I tested out the sample of Alpine Vanilla in 6 oz of ice cold water and just like the other
two flavors it mixed up very well. What's strange about the Van is that though it's not
strong on flavor you can TELL it's Vanilla where you can't really tell the flavoring on the
Dutch Choc or the Choc PB so Nutrabio must have really up the flavor on the vanilla after
they saw the Price Plow review on the Vanilla. Now they need to up the flavoring on the
Alpine Choc and the Choc PB.

This is something I have been talking to them about and it's a factor they are looking at. It's interesting because we get some people who love the Chocolate PB and some who don't. But yeah we did up the Vanilla and it even didn't change the macros at all. So I'll keep on them.
But really glad that you got to try it out and enjoyed Muscle Matrix!Nutrabio Lead Rep

Glad they listened and upped the flavor on the vanilla so now they have to do the same
with the Dutch Choc and Choc PB.
I tested out the 2nd sample of the Dutch Choc and I went with 6oz of unsweetened almond milk.
I only use water for my shakes but I wanted to give others and idea what it tasted like just in
case they do use milk.
The mix ability in milk almond milk was just as good as the water and there was no clumping,
floaters, or sediment. The taste still was very light BUT you did get more of a choc flavor to it
with the addition of the milk.

Today after a grueling leg workout in this July humidity I went with 1 scoop of
Muscle Matrix Choc PB and I combined it with 6 oz of unsweetened almond milk
and again so others can get an idea how it mixes and tastes when using some
form of milk.
Just like the Dutch Choc this mixed up super smooth and the flavor came through
slightly better but it still lacks that PB flavor and I will use this protein another time
mixed in water and then I will post my final thoughts in the store and in this thread
and I will give my recommendations on what I think should be added to really solidify
the taste cause this profile as I said before is STELLAR! and I'll touch more on this
in my final review.

I've now taste tested all the samples of the Dutch Choc, Alpine Van, and I've gone
through 5 shakes of the Choc PB where I used water for 4 of them and unsweetened
almond milk for 1 and this is my final review and I've also posted my final review in
the bb.com store which will probably show up in a day or two.
Ingredient Profile- 10/10- Nutrabio does the most open labels than anyone where
they list EVERYTHING including how much of each ingredient is used. The combo
of two very high quality proteins is at a very good ratio of 55% of whey isolate and
45% micellar casein.
Mix Ability -10/10- Each time I used this protein in shakes I noticed that it mixed up
with no foaming, clumping, or sediment and that was in both water and almond milk.
I used one serving each time I made a shake so I can't comment on how 2 scoops
will mix but from my experience with heavy doses of micellar casein is that when you
go with a two scoop serving you will most likely get a little bit of the casein sticking
to the sides of your shaker cup but this is almost something you'll get from micellar
casein at a very high dose.
Texture- 10/10- I usually don't include this in my protein reviews but in this one I have
to cause when you mix 1 scoop in either water or almond milk you will get a thick and
creamy shake that feels like your drinking a shake and not flavored water. This goes to
show you that when a company puts a REAL dose of micellar casein in their protein the
texture is evident and Muscle Matrix utilizes a hefty dose.
When you look at the ingredients you see they DON'T add fillers, excipients,or creamers so
the creaminess of the shake is from the true quality dose of micellar casein. A lot of brands
that do mixed blends usually have micellar casein listed last on the protein list of proteins
used and usually the shakes don't come out as creamy so you know the micellar casein is
pretty much window dressed on the label and not very much of it is really put into the
ingredient profile.
Price-9/10- When you read reviews on this or any of Nutrabio's supplements most of the
time that's usually a complaint that the price is too high but if your a savvy supplement
shopper like Superhuman then you'll know that during the holiday's and certain times of the
years you can find Nutrabio's supplements at 20-25% off so that's the time to stock up and
at those sale price points they are definitely worth it for the stringent quality and control
that does into their manufacturing of their products and you can feel confident that the label
claims are met 100%.
Taste- Alpine Vanilla- 8/10- This was the surprise flavor because usually this would be
weaker than the other two flavors that I tried but this was the more evident of the three.
From the very first sip you could tell it was a vanilla and I am a vanilla fan but I prefer a
bit more of a cake batter or a slight twist to my vanilla flavors. This vanilla was not bad
at all and I would consider this one to be a step up from your basic boring van and if van
is your thing and like non exotic type vanilla's then I don't think anyone is going to have an
issue with this flavor. From my understanding Nutrabio actually up the flavoring on this one
so this is why it taste the way it does now and I heard it was just too bland in the past.
Dutch Chocolate- 7/10- I'm a huge choc fan when it comes to protein and I prefer darker
and richer tasting chocolates. This choc by no means taste bad but I had to try to feel
out the flavor and honestly choc is one of those flavors that should just hit your taste
buds as soon as you sip on it but this Dutch Choc just doesn't do that and it took a couple
of try's to feel out the flavor and again I should not have to do that with choc.
Choc PB- 7/10- Who doesn't like Choc and PB and it's a great combo of flavors but just like
the Dutch Choc this one doesn't quite hit your taste buds and again you have to search out
the flavor and you shouldn't when it comes to very strong flavors on their own. Just like the
other flavors this doesn't taste bad at all so don't let the 7/10 rating fool you it's just that
the flavoring is way too weak.
The choc as well as the Dutch Choc needs to be intensified so it's more apparent when you
first taste it and the PB flavor I feel would come through better if PB flour were used. I've
gone through a number of PB flavored proteins over the years and the ones that ranked very
high on my taste list ALL had PB flour in the profile. The PB flour won't take away from the
macros but you will get a tiny bit of sediment on the bottom of the shaker which really is no
big deal if it's going to add to the better overall flavor.
Overall- 9/10- Everything about this protein profile is a 10/10 but I had to knock off 10pts
cause the flavor though they are not offensive in any way such as being overly sweet, bitter,
or funny tasting just don't come through strong enough for me.
I personally use protein powders more as a flavoring and of course to boost the protein
content of the foods I add it too such as oats, plain yogurt, and cottage cheese so for
me flavoring is a big thing. I don't eat the junk food that most people eat so for me when
I add protein to the foods I mentioned that is my dessert to satisfy my sweet tooth so again
protein flavoring for me needs to be strong and tasty. I do drink protein shakes but it's usually
when I'm at work between breakfast and lunch as a meal and for convenience but if I'm off
from work the protein gets consumed the ways that I mentioned to flavor food.
I've gone through a few different flavors of Nutrabio's proteins and the Cold Brew Cappuccino,
and the Pumpkin were their strongest flavors. I've gone through the Horchata and Lemon and
both were decent but again just not strong enough on flavor and I've had the banana isolate
which just had a strange after taste that I did not like so I feel the only thing Nutrabio needs
to do with their proteins is get them to taste stronger but again this is just my opinion where
some might not feel happy with how they are flavored.
Once again a HUGE thanks to Kon_Rock and Nutrabio for supplying me with a tub of Muscle
Matrix and the samples to try out and give my HONEST feedback on it.

Ingredients
1- 1/2 cup of MY Protein Oat Powder
2- 1 1/2 scoops of Nutrabio Muscle Matrix Choc PB
3- 3/4 tsp of baking powder
4- 1/2 tsp of baking soda
5- 1/4 cup of dark chocolate morsels
6- 2 tbs of PB Chips
7- 2 tbs of unsalted roasted peanuts
8- 2 heaping tbs of Chunky unsalted peanut butter (Trader Joe)
9- 1 tbs of liquid vanilla extract
10- 2 egg whites lightly beaten
In a large bowl mix all the dry ingredients then add the PB and stir it in
until it's well combined with the dry ingredients. Then add the egg whites
and the extract and thoroughly mix until all the ingredients are wet and
form a cookie dough.
Take a cookie scoop that has been lightly coated with nonstick spray and
scoop small balls of dough and drop them on a cookie sheet that has been
coated with nonstick spray. Once all the dough has been dropped onto the
sheet take a fork and CAREFULLY flatten down the dough balls and then
place the cookie sheet into a 325 degree preheated oven for about 8 min
but stay close to the oven cause protein cookies don't take long at all.
When done remove and let cool before storing them in the fridge until your ready
to eat and this will last a long time in the fridge so you don't have to rush to eat
them and please just one at a time.
