    Folic acid deficiency

First of all, I'm not seeking medical advice with regards to this. I'm just interested in hearing peoples experience with this.

I've just been diagnosed with this after blood tests and given medication for the next 3 months - when I'm tested again.

I wondered if anyone has had the same and what symptoms you had and if you saw any changes after taking medication.

The reason I went to the doctors was because of general fatigue. I ended up increasing calories more and more and reduced volume in the gym to a bare minimum and still wasn't recovering.

I'm really interested to hear other experiences.

    Thanks!

There is a genetic variation that inhibits folic acid assimilation. It is my understanding people with this genetic anomaly can assimilate Metafolin L-5-MTHF. You could talk to your physician about being tested for the genetic component and do some additional research from there.

I think you mean Folate... not folic acid.

Folic Acid is a lab-derived version of folate..

Yes. The thing I recommended is methyl folate. I believe other methylated forms of B vitamins are also used since they can also be difficult to assimilate in non-methylated forms for people with the genetic condition, potentially resulting in prenacious anemia.
