Hahah! No doubt... frankly, i mean abs are fine and all, I get the appeal obviously, but when it comes to actually looking better, stronger, bigger, abs matter the least of everything... they only come out to play when the shirt's off anyway. So yeah... for now... bulking it is =o)

Thanks for checking in dude. Yeah, my ED has been with me for 15+ years, and i've only had 2 period where I was in 'remission' and gained weight to a reasonable level, got strong, and felt truly healthy.

Now, i'm in this for long haul... i'm gaining pretty quickly, but I'm glad i am, as it's allowing me to progress more and totally smother the stupid mental hangups I developed.

For sure man, it can be brutal but i'm really happy you are in recovery. I'm still working on gaining weight and trying to get stronger too. My mental hangups have been there for around 8 years. At 21 I went from 285 pounds down to an eventual 139 and now I hover around 170 I think(don't weigh myself unless its for the random docs office visit). Anyways, keep at it man and get back to that 2012 size!

Very similar in how I dropped weight initially and am not trying to gain back. Glad you're healthier

Congrats on increasing the squat weight man, that’s pretty awesome and hopefully you continue to see some good progress👌. What do you normally do for abs? I’m just curious, I’ve been doing rollouts and cable crunches lately. I’ve been on a real Bruce Lee kick lately so I’m hoping to work my way up to doing dragon flags lol.

I always do standing cable crunches, but I do them on the cable fly station.

I basically stand facing the machine, grip the handles at the tallest setting, and crunch down and hold briefly. I find it's the easiest on my lower back and I get great activation

    Thanks man!

I also just hit a new 4x5 on bench today, so things are continuing to trend upward

I'm toying around with peri-workout meals/nutrition to try and figure out what will work best. I hate training completely fasted, but I also cannot train with much in my stomach, i get really bad reflux and nausea if I do.

I also might need to try training later in the day to see if that's better or not... i've always been a morning lifter, just getting up and having a smoothie then training 1-2 hours later. But who knows, maybe afternoon training would be better.

Man it always feels awesome to hit a new PR.

I feel you there. I have to work out in the morning, not only from a scheduling standpoint but from a mental AND physical one. It kind of jump starts my day mentally, and I found that I'm best physically when I'm as fresh as can be in the morning.

I also am in the exact same position as far as meals go. Can't train fasted, but don't have enough time to digest a full meal before gym time. I've found my happy medium is a combination of a banana, half glass of almond milk and a bit of whey about 40mins before my first set. Some days I still feel sluggish until halfway through my workout even with that little amount of grub digesting.

    Agreed on the mental aspect.

I feel it's a combination of craving the PR's in the gym and looking forward to them (thus making me distracted when I leave the gym for later) and also helping me feel like I start the day having already accomplished a goal...

I tend to go to sleep on days where I lift the following one looking forward to training, and I just want to do it.... it's a hard balance to figure out.

    Gainz just keep coming...

Today I bumped by BB Rows to 155 and added a rep, with the weight feeling even lighter than last session.

Also added 1 rep to my weighted pull ups, now able to do 4 sets with 20lb on my waist, each set 7 reps.

Super happy with today's workout, even though it was a little off my usual upper/lower plan since yesterday I ran short on time and could only do an upper-push style workout.

I will probably take tomorrow off, then to Upper/Lower on Thurs-Friday before the weekend, as I have a 2-day golf match which will mean no lifting for me

Glad you had a successful day because I had one of the worst workouts I've had in a long time. Which means I'm taking tomorrow off too. I've been going pretty hard recently so I'm going to reward myself with a day full of delicious grub and as little moving as possible. Usually I'm ready to train right as I step out the gym previously, especially if I hit a PR. Looking forward to tomorrow though, which is odd for me.

As always, good work. Keep pushing.

Yeah best to leave it until you know you can train harder. Even though I prefer always sticking to my schedule, I see zero benefit from training on a day I know ahead of time will go terribly when I could come back tomorrow and crush it.

Hate to say it, but it kind of threw off my day. That’s when I knew I needed a full day of nothingness. Haven’t had one in a while. Decided to take a day off tracking intake as well and go the intuitive route to see how that goes. Gonna reset though and be back on the hard grind Thursday.

Anyways, don’t mean to hijack your thread with my crappy day lol. This is about you and your unstoppable gainz.

Hah! So you train with weights every day? That's usually never going to yield optimal results at least in most of the folks i've seen. I'd suggest at least 1, preferably 2 non-lifting days a week to ensure will CNS recovery.

Oh absolutely not. I do go 6 days most weeks though with steady progression and autoregulate in a sense if I need an extra rest day.

I was referring to a day of absolute nothingness. I usually have some sort of activity even on my rest days. Today I have no work, no workout, nothing lol.

.........and of course I’m now up at 4:40AM, which is gym time. I hate my body’s clock.

AH ok, i gotcha. That makes more sense.

I kind of do a similar thing with auto-regulation... I have a set minimum of training 4 days a week (twice for each bodypart), but there are weeks where I have so much energy and time I can get one extra session in, so I do.

Other times, I just need a day off, so I take it.

Man I wish I could just wake up and go train on an empty stomach (I know you're the same, in having to get at least a SMALL amount of food in pre-training to perform your best) like so many other people seem to. Since i've been in a surplus for a while now, my morning appetite just isn't there... like food does not sound good at all.

Exactly. I've found in a surplus, with a relatively shortened recovery time relative to a deficit, there are some days I have enough energy and am progressing at a good rate that I don't see a reason not to go and put in some work even though my original programming calls for a rest day. That's kinda why when starting a program, I usually select a well-designed program and add volume/frequency where I see fit. It ultimately becomes my own programming over time, which may be viewed as a bad thing, but if I enjoy the work I'm doing and am progressing then I really don't see it that way. I don't know if that makes sense, I had a hard time putting that thought together lol.

As far as morning food goes, it's strange. Some days I'll wake up really hungry, ready to get in my small pre grub immediately. And there are some days I'll wake up and force it down just because I've been doing this long enough to know that if I don't I'll burnout and regret it. It's a good thing I love bananas and almond milk, because even when I force it down it's still delicious ha
