I was thinking of waiting till I get in better shape. I'm 6'3 , 270 lbs and just had my first workout (Deadlifts, Squats, Abs and Lunges) in a year. I want to sign up for BJJ but I think I would get gassed easily and won't be able to keep up. After the workout I'm thinking maybe I should sign up now.
What do you guys think?

Should I sign up for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu now or wait till I get in shape?

If you're interested in it, go for it. It can be a good type of cardio. Just make sure you're fueling your body enough and aren't over-doing the activity too soon burning yourself out. Don't worry too much about "not being able to keep up"; any reputable gym will respect you trying to get in shape and will work with you.

You're the first person to tell me to go for it. Two other people said to get in shape first. Ahhh I can't decide yet! I e-mailed two schools asking for the opinions, both close to my house, but they're schools so they'll probably tell me to sign up.
Cool thing is I can do a day of free classes.
Maybe I should do that ( tomorrow ) and see how I do cardio wise.5/29/17 - **The day I decided to take my life seriously and start approaching girls, and learning openers, mid conversation phase shifting, building an emotional and physical connection. I think I will do free classes @ three schools and decide which instructor / community I like the most and then pick.

I'm not sure how other schools operate but at mine they do beginner classes that are light warmups for 10 minutes and then primarily drilling for the remainder. It's only as demanding as you make it so I would sign up and use it as a way to help get in shape. See if they offer free classes and check those out.

The thing is I worry if I'll be too sore to workout Jiu Jitsu
