I plan to try out a zero carb meal plan for 30 days. The only problem I see is I do NOT like steak. Never did. Plus I do not have the time to properly prepare it even if i did. So I stick to ground meat or chicken. Mostly Elk and Venison the last few months. I see most eat huge steaks when trying this out. I guess I could supplement with some oil for the missing fat in my lean meat choices...?
Possible My plan:
First Meal of the day. 11:30am - 1lb Ground Venison with 1 tbsp MCT oil or Coconut oil added in. (800-ish Calories)
2pm - 6 hard boiled eggs (360 Calories)
*Possibly Pre-workout drink at 4pm??? (1 Carb only) (L-Leucine, Acetyl L-Carnitine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine, L-Tyrosine, Taurine, Betaine HCL, Caffeine Anhydrous [250mg], Green Tea Extract) - Plus 5g Creapure.
Last Meal of the day. 7:30pm - 1lb Ground Elk (Without draining the fat) (800-ish Calories)
-----
Second problem, I very much enjoy and feel the difference if i don't use my pre-workout drink before training. But's not really zero carb if my pre-workout has 1 gram carb because of the flavoring... How much does it really matter if I am drinking this while on the "carnivore" diet? I don't want to cheat it.
I keep a pretty high level of activity. I like endurance sports and compete/train mixed martial arts. The workouts posted are "general" routine of what I do. I modify them to add in complexity, balance, and change things up.
Normal routine for me:
Monday - 1 Mile Row machine, 100 pull Up, 200 Push ups, 300 ab wheel, 400 squats (broken up into 20 sets, no rest). 10-15 minute break. 1 Hour Kickboxing
Tuesday - 13.6 Mile Run
Wednesday - Spin Bike-30 min./ 1 hour Yoga / MURPH, BJJ (GI)
Thursday - Run 10.2 Miles
Friday - 1 Mile Row machine, 100 pull Up, 200 Push ups, 300 ab wheel, 400 squats (broken up into 20 sets, no rest). 10-15 minute break. 1 Hour Kickboxing
Saturday - Open Mat Grappling, Bike 26 Miles
Sunday - Bike 40 Miles

Zero carb for 30 days.

So this whole thread is about whether it's okay or not to eat 1g of carbs when you're on a zero carb diet?
It doesn't matter.. zero carb diets are in no way more superior than normal carb diets, you follow it if you feel better doing it.
For instance, some people feel better and can perform much better and feel more energetic consuming carbs.
I for example, would fall asleep if I eat a lot of carbs, so I eat very minimal carbs just for that reason.
Point to take home: It's a preference, don't stress over it.“One of the greatest experiences in life is achieving personal goals that others said would be, ‘impossible to attain.’ Be proud of your success and share your story with others.” -Robert Cheeke

I tend to look too deep into things on occasion. I felt I was kind of cheating already adding in the eggs at 2pm...
I left out one big issue out on accident. I need an easy mid workout meal on Wed. before BJJ (grappling). I'm at the gym from 4pm to 9pm with my last meal at 2pm. i need something around 7pm to keep me from getting light headed. At least that's what I've always done with my normal meal plans. Which is also lower carb as well.
I'm already eating 2lbs of ground meat and 6 eggs during the day... What else could i consume easily at 7pm?

I cannot wait to see what health issues you manage to get from almost no micro-nutrients and such a restrictive diet. Given it's a short time-frame it wont likely be anything serious, but you are not doing yourself any good.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.

5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

I tried posting links to studies... I don't have enough posts yet.
Hit the Google button. Dr. Shawn baker, Jordan peterson and his daughter, many others... I could post 50 of those. So far it's been showing great results across the board. The only negatives i have found have been from "skeptics" saying what "might" happen or what "could" happen. I prefer results.
Which is why i am willing to try it... As a short term thing. 30 days to start. I don't see myself doing it more than 90 even with the best results. I enjoy my salads, baked veggies, avocados, etc.. and more of a broad variety of foods.
I'm no advocate though... Just willing to try it out for myself.Last edited by sen2two; 07-05-2018 at 06:50 AM.

Enjoy the symptoms.
And I can post 50+ articles claiming the earth is flat, Big Foot is real, we never landed on the Moon... it means nothing; science has shown we NEED vegetables, fruits, and a varied diet for health.Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.

Dude... it's the calorie deficit that does the work. Nothing else.

I have done Keto in the past. I like it, and works well for me. This will most likely end at me going back to a more Keto friendly meal plan.
To others.... Science also told us to eat plenty of wheat, rice, corn. Add sugar, remove fat. Red meat will kill you. Milk is perfect. All wrong.
Results from people in non-funded environments is what I look for. Real people doing real things.
Edit:
Ps... I was also told Vegan is bad. Did that for 3 years. Then another 3+ only adding eggs back in. 6+ years no meat until recently. I didn't become a dangly string bean, get sick, lose GaInZ! or any of the nonsense.
Try things out. See what works for YOU. No need to be so negative with new information.

If you actually knew what science was and what primary research tells us, you would know that it does not make such black and white declarations. It is evidence, nothing more. It sounds like you have not directly looked at that evidence and are relying on the say-so of some guy who claims he has and is trying to sell books or Netflix 'documentaries'.
I've had access to people doing primary research (and it was not funded by some big corporate) and they will all tell you that there are no magic bullets and no bogeymen. It mostly comes down to eating a diverse mixed diet, not getting fat and doing exercise.

It seems that you're not open to suggestions or other people's opinions, and you want people to give you very specific advice, just go ahead and do what you want already.

You're following a non-healthy life style whereby you're at the gym for 5 hours a day, consume no vegetables, fruits, or fiber.. And you want advice to keep carrying on the same route?
No.
We're here to advocate a healthy life style, not something that would possibly be dangerous to individuals, this isn't the right forum for that.“One of the greatest experiences in life is achieving personal goals that others said would be, ‘impossible to attain.’ Be proud of your success and share your story with others.” -Robert Cheeke

If you want vindication of your program you're looking in the wrong place here.
The reason people lose weight is they don't count calories and a high fat diet for most is very satiating so they take in fewer calories without knowing. They think it's the KETO causing the weight loss but it's just the lower calories. Carbs aren't the enemy, too many calories are. Instead of eliminating an important macro it's best to just have a balanced diet and a calorie deficit.
Why you people insist on making it difficult I just can't figure out. Seems like every time a new BS Netflix diet movie comes out everyone jumps on it looking for that "Magic Pill" when in reality there is no such thing. The Magic Pill for fatloss is a net calorie deficit over time and nothing moreLast edited by Tommy W.; 07-05-2018 at 09:39 AM.
