Forums dying sucks, for those reasons and more. I still don't have IG or SC or Twit accounts and shut off FB awhile ago.
I feel old now.

I virtually always find my answers or how-to's or just general educated/experienced discussion in a forum. Pretty much any topic it's just a matter of finding the right forum and then searching or title searching sub forums or using google to search the whole thing. It may not be a coincidence that bb.com has the worst search feature of any forum to ever have search, and is dying more than any of my other forums
After forums my next stop, often directed to specific things via the forum, is YouTube

Bingo.
A busted search function surely isn't the only reason for the forum's demise - but I'm sure it factors into it.
The search function has never worked for as long as I can remember. I can't believe for a forum this size, and the amount of threads & posts here, they can't get the search feature to work correctly to maximize the user experience. What a waste! Sad!

maybe it's me but i think reddit is the place to be now and i find that there's tons of information shared and you get to cater to your interests by subscribing to a subreddit.
bb.com is where everything started for me in my transformation so i'll never forget the help received and the online friendships (even some of you guys are ********/IG friends) made, though i'm not as close to anyone as some of you guys seem to be.
regardless of the degree of our friendship, thank you all for your knowledge, generosity when you guys were reps, and making my work day that much more interesting as it's been a permanent tab in my browser for the past 7 years.
i guess this is pretty much a long winded goodbye100% 中國人

IDK, from what I see Reddit seems prone to cult followings of a particular person/personality and if some random person, experienced or not, knowledgeable or not, says anything that isn't in lock-step agreement, they get downvoted into obscurity and it disappears for practical purposes. It's kind of like, if a mod on bb.com decided that X-program or Y-philosophy, which has worked over time for a hell of a lot of people, is bad, anybody who says anything positive about it goes red except on reddit that equivalent also includes a near equivalent of post deletion. It stifles the crap out of counterpoints.
But maybe I just haven't spent enough time there, IDK. Haven't been overly impressed when I visit.

Disappointed in hearing the new Ghost is only average in flavor but everyone has different tastes.
As for the forums, they only "die" when regular users keep saying they are going to "die" and then give up. Keep posting, post more and help keep it going. As for reddit, I use it but so many things I dislike about it. What was said above is pretty much true. Don't like what some hive minded, can't think for themselves online "losers" think is right or popular? You get downvoted. Users should have to put in a good valid reason for downvoting because most of the time it's just because they don't agree, don't like you or your comment or just because they want to.
Maybe a bit harsh in my comments but that is how I feel about that place. Well in fact, same for any forums.

Can't post more when there aren't more threads created in which to post.
I think what also happens a lot with downvotes is somebody gets literally like two to start with and then other people just figure they'll go with the flow and pile on. Runaway train/herd/lemming even if they don't have an articuable opinion or experience on the matter

I always wondered. No idea.
Too bad it's not like reddit where enough 1 star votes/downvotes hides the thread and you have to seek it out at the bottom and click to expand in order to be able to see it
But then we're simultaneously complaining about how the groupthink uses that as a negative sooo it seems kind of lose-lose

Back to the subject of forums dying.
It is not all forums. I am a member of several other forums such as AVSForum and MyFICO forum to name a few. Both of those forums are very active still.**********************
