    Post Protein powders

So I'm having a discussion with someone and I feel I am correct but I'm open to being wrong. I can't find it online so came here to ask.

So if I were to buy a protien powder each month for example 12 months like Optimum Nutrition and used that for a month, then the next month got another brand, the next month, different brand from those 2 and so on, my argument was that sticking to the same brand would have essentially been better over 12 months rather than chop changing brands over 12 months essentially being 12 different types of powders. It being a specific cycle of protien powder rather than being different every month.

Does this make sense ? If not let me know but if it does and you have an answer, again let me know.

20g of whey concentrate = 20g of whey concentrate = 20g of whey concentrate.. etc etc etc. What you said, no offense, has zero merit.

This. I like rotating brands and flavors; many offer different consistency and thickness. Variety is the spice of life.

As above, you’re thinking protein powder is more than it is.

It doesn't matter. At all. Like...not. at. all.

There is no such thing as a "cycle" of food. Protein powder is powdered food.

    Unfortunately you are not correct.

It doesn't even matter if you use a different protein for the protein powder each month (or day, or week, or year, or whatever). Like, whey, then casein, then a whey/casein blend, then more chicken and no powder at all, whatever.

Something to the effect of... in the context of a high protein diet of varied sources, protein is protein.

Get your protein macro for the day each day, that's it.

    protien

I usually blend milk, Greek yogurt, oatmeal, and bananas. That’s plenty of protein and in my opinion more nutritious

What quantities of each and what are the macros?

People looking for protein have no need for bananas or oatmeal. If you are looking to make a gainer or simply a liquid food/meal, go for it.

All proteins are the similar but not the exact same

All companies are similar. The most important thing is to look at the macronutrient ratios of your protein powder you are buying. Also the price per serving. You can't go wrong with Dymatize Nutrition or Optimum. However companies will use sweeteners like sugar to add to their products. A good protein is anything 160 calories or less per scoop.

Up to you man! As long as you are getting at least 0.8 grams per lb of bodyweight a day of protein.

As has already been said, if you are hitting your macros precisely with each brand, there will be no difference.

I also like to rotate brands simply for the enjoyment of variety. The only thing I will say probably caused me to lose weight was Controlled Labs Orange Pro More. I am not hating on Controlled Labs, in fact I love them, but there is something awful in Pro More that made me chit uncontrollably. To the point where I would chit my pants. I even did a controlled study to weed out the culprit. I would stop using Pro More for a few days, everything fine, use Pro More=chit my pants. Stop using it for 2 weeks, fine, go back to it=chit my pants. Only protein powder I ever used that made me feel like an incontinent geriatric.
