I looked up a couple videos on cast iron skillet cleaning and care over the weekend, now Im getting stupid ass annoying furious Pete video recommendations all over the home page now. Maybe he calls himself furious because that's how he makes you feel after clicking a video of his?

hot water wipe it out.. Also throw in some kosher salt as an abrasive before scrubbing it out with a dry rag if you need to rinse and dry that's it :P
This seems pretty factualLast edited by Rob1882; 05-13-2019 at 12:41 PM.

You donated to his dog's $100 steak dinner, didn't ya bud?
That's how it happens.
There's so many opinions on this, just trying to see what the most sanitary method is. Some people just rinse off and put it away which seems pretty fkn gross. Yes, I know about the eTeRnAl FlAvOrInG I'm missing out on by cleaning.
Rob Qaeda - I've read the salts actually pit the pan's surface further and can actually work against you? No?

I rinse with hot water and use a little soap to* knock it down, but not enough that it actually takes all of that 'seasoning' away...and then top it off with a bit o oil just to make sure. Always seems mostly clean and slick and shiny and smells proper (IOW, no bad smells) the next time.

Amazon says I bought those scrapers 4 years ago. Pan is still beautiful, just checked it ha. Other than those all I use is some paper towel. Don't want to scrub into the good stuffLast edited by Farley1324; 05-13-2019 at 07:22 PM.

Still on this huh, okay lol, I whipped mine out (oooh!) for a pic, quick swipe with a paper towel to see what comes off.
I don't use it all that often but it's 5+ years old and has had stuff burned onto it enough to verify my process.
Also, this wasn't my first cast iron skillet...had to learn by trial and error on that first one...

Update on this, I Picked up some K-Pure iron (Ferrous Bisglycinate) and after nearly 3 weeks the difference is immense. Taking it alongside Orange Triad and feeling a whole lot better. I doubled the dose for a week and then dropped it to the recommended and it seems to have done the trick, though it knocked my stomach off for a few days
