I’m transitioning from a power lifting routine to Oly lifts. On my jerk, I’m having some posterior delt discomfort. This doesn’t occur in strict OHP or any other shoulder work. Sometimes it occurs during snatches but not as often. Any ideas what may be causing it? Poor form, muscles not use to the explosion? Any help is necessary.

Mobility is not the greatest but it has come a long way. I'm now able to position the bar over my shoulders more than I was when I started. Ears are showing when weight is over head. Since I'm new to this, I feel like it's very ugly form with an occasional, oh yeah, that's the sweet spot. The discomfort is less when that position is reached. I definitely need more practice. I'm keeping the weight low until my form gets better. Going no higher than 135.

Do you mean to say you feel discomfort when the bar isn't fixed in the correct spot?
I don't know much about shoulders, but try taking a wider jerk grip. A super narrow grip can be uncomfortable for people who don't have really good shoulder mobility. Other than that, keep stretching your shoulders as much as you can, and digging into your scapulae with a peanut or other implement. Something that worked well for me was sitting in the bottom of the squat jerk position with a weight (just the bar at first) and moving my grip from a snatch position to a clean position, over time. You can also add weight when you're more comfortable with a particular grip.
