I don't think Tony died. In the entire show nobody (afaik) has been killed in that manner. In middle of a restaurant by a guy who has been sitting there the entire time, and infront of Tonys entire family?
It honestly doesn't seem plausible imo.
Real Madrid, Miami Heat, New York Jets.

Great series! However, I would have preferred a much, more, definitive and detailed ending, rather than the artsy, fartsy, interpret your own ending that was chosen.

He's dead bro. The creator left it open to interpretation, but it is pretty clear that he died there. The two black dudes who walked in were his backup to make sure nobody called the police until they escaped. He was waiting there scouting the place out to find an opening.

    I don't want to believe :-(.
The ending was horrible, because if he died it would be a ridiculous way to off somebody.

how can something that wasn't depicted at all be so clear? you don't know who those black guys are, or the guy in the jacket sitting at the bar. no one in that restaurant, aside from tony's family, had been introduced to the audience yet. you're making assumptions that hold no water.

i think the ending scene actually puts you in the shoes of tony soprano and shows you what it's like being him...ie. constantly looking over your shoulder, wondering when it's your turn to go and not being able to let go of those thoughts even in a public place surrounded by family. who actually has that on their mind? that their life can end in that instant when they're a) surrounded with family (you know...by people who make you feel safe) and b)out in public. pretty fukin crazy to think about

love the analysis but I think the show itself did great at foreshadowing ahead of the finale

It's pretty awesome living in northern NJ and passing through many of the towns where the show was filmed in. Like yesterday I was driving on route 80 east towards the city and passed by Satin Dolls (The Bing in the show)

I had trouble getting hooked on the show. It would have great scenes every episode but they just felt too few and far between.

Plus I didn’t like any of Tony’s crew which didn’t help. Chris, Paulie Walnuts, Silvio Dante, etc I just never cared about them one bit lol.

Personally I prefer The Wire but I’m not sure the two shows are even comparable except for the fact that they’re both considered HBO masterpieces.

The Wire would have never happened had the Sopranos not been a massive success. The Sopranos paved the road for other GOAT shows like The Wire.

My favourite character was of course Christopher. He was so fukking flawed, weak, pathetic, insecure. But I just couldn’t help but like the guy.

It honestly doesn't seem plausible imo.
I said the exact same thing on another forum. The scene screams anything but a mob hit. But on the other thread it was pointed out to me that there had been a couple other fairly public executions. But still...the setting makes no sense to do Tony in.

The scene where Tony starts a fight with the big muscley guy to re-assert his dominance, when the other guys in the crew stop respecting him, was the most alpha thing I have ever seen.

    Best show ever.

GOAT ending had me speechless. I had so many questions but I knew what I didn’t want to believe. The directing in this scene (camera angles, focus on certain patrons in the restaurant, etc) shows the fact that homie did not seeing chit coming he was focused on his family.
