Paralyzed at 22 from the neck down while in Harvard medical school, he didn't give up. He got his MD. Became a psychiatrist and even had some published research about bipolar disorder. He wrote speeches for Mondale and later won a Pulitzer. The guy never gave up. I hope the time left with his family is without pain and longer than the doctors predict.

That sucks....I have seen so many examples where a person responded to treatment, celebrated being cancer-free, only to have it re-emerge more virulent and deadly than ever. Cancer is truly horrible. Hope Krauthammer's final days are peaceful.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

I have never not respected him.
I help men liike him die almost every day . It sucks for a moment, but when you see the eyes wide open, no fear, no sorrow one can not help but to be humbled by it. We are all better because he was... and for a short time still is
His voice will be missed.
That is all.

Really sucks. Always enjoyed listening to him and reading his columns. His announcement letter:
"I have been uncharacteristically silent these past ten months. I had thought that silence would soon be coming to an end, but I’m afraid I must tell you now that fate has decided on a different course for me.
In August of last year, I underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in my abdomen. That operation was thought to have been a success, but it caused a cascade of secondary complications — which I have been fighting in hospital ever since. It was a long and hard fight with many setbacks, but I was steadily, if slowly, overcoming each obstacle along the way and gradually making my way back to health.
However, recent tests have revealed that the cancer has returned. There was no sign of it as recently as a month ago, which means it is aggressive and spreading rapidly. My doctors tell me their best estimate is that I have only a few weeks left to live. This is the final verdict. My fight is over.
I wish to thank my doctors and caregivers, whose efforts have been magnificent. My dear friends, who have given me a lifetime of memories and whose support has sustained me through these difficult months. And all of my partners at The Washington Post, Fox News, and Crown Publishing.
Lastly, I thank my colleagues, my readers, and my viewers, who have made my career possible and given consequence to my life’s work. I believe that the pursuit of truth and right ideas through honest debate and rigorous argument is a noble undertaking. I am grateful to have played a small role in the conversations that have helped guide this extraordinary nation’s destiny.

Always a reasonable voice on a panel of wild opinions 99%of the time. As for cancer the pattern seems to be remission, the cancer regroups and comes back full steam ahead and takes the person out. Unfortunately we celebrate thinking that they are cancer free but that is rarely the case. His comments lead me to believe that he does not fear death and is ready to go to the other side.
There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

I always thought he was completely paralyzed from the way they made him look while on TV, then saw an interview where he left the studio to attend a Washington Nationals game and he drove himself. He had limited mobility in his arms and hands but it was enough to drive, write, etc.
