I checked our Home Depot sign area this evening out of curiosity. No gun or carry or weapon type signs of any kind. Three different signs for saying you are on camera, though.

Y’all seen that new XDS mod 2? Was thinking of buying one just for chits and giggles. But the grip zone isn’t marked so not exactly sore where to hold it but I’m sure I’ll figure it out.

Doesn't hurt just sitting there or sleeping.
But anything that extends arms out front or up and my back muscles start to burn after a bit. Carrying anything over probably 20 lbs doesn't feel good, either.
I'll probably go get new xrays the beginning of next month just to make sure it's healing as expected. As long as it reattaches I should be good to go. Sounds like about 10 weeks is pretty normal for healing. Today is 4 weeks exactly.

Question for the brahs with home surveillance systems (especially Arlo) - how many cameras do you have set up and do you feel that's a good amount for your house, or would you add/subtract some?
ETA: Amazon has a couple Arlo packages on sale for the deal of the day if anyone is in the market.Misc Firearms Crew

I put the 3 camera system on my mom's house
prob really need 2 more for 360 degree coverage but have all the door's covered
one issue I ran into was wifi strength - I don't think I could add 2 more cameras where they're needed due to the distance from her internet connection and all the walls/brick in between~MFC~

Netgear just spun off Arlo as its own public company, I imagine they will want to spike some sales out of the gate. I have 11 cameras but I'm on the 10 camera plan so I have an extra. I have every entrance and driveway covered pretty well along with a couple of interior cams. May be able to get away with fewer but I like having the coverage.
My Arlos are getting a little long in the tooth and I need to see what is on the market now that there is serious competition. I would prefer staying wireless but may be flexible for some spots. I'm going through at least $100 worth of CR123s a year.

out to eat Saturday night, I saw some pretty poor firearm retention from a sheriff's officer - the kind in just regular pants and a sheriff black shirt on
he was OWB a small revolver in what looked like a leather pouch that didn't even fully cover the cylinders - if he jumped up and down, it looked like it would just tumble out - no strap, no molding, nothing
took me a little off guard - I guess he thinks he's a BAMF and nobody would even try him, IDK~MFC~

My house has a pretty small footprint and I think the Wifi reaches any spot I'd really need it. But I've been thinking about a range extender to get a stronger signal upstairs too.
Jeez dude. I'm sitting here just wondering if 3 is enough or if I should jump to 5. lol. I'd have no use for that many. But the packages now come with rechargeable batteries. So there's that.
Here's a quick Google maps screen grab of my place and what I'm thinking as far as the cameras. I figure one in front can see driveway/cars. One in back can see basically the whole yard and would be right by the door. And the third maybe in the small porch area to see anyone that comes up to the door. Didn't know if that would be enough or it would be worth it to go for more. 3 leaves the sides of the house uncovered, but the only concerns would be the downstairs bathroom window which could be a potential entry point, and maybe the breaker box, which they put outside the house for some reason.

I much prefer Nest for the 24/7 recording and higher picture quality. Catch is all that data for video files requires a paid subscription for that cloud space and the cameras are plugged into A/C so you have to put them within 25' (as the wire runs) of an outlet. But also no battery expenses or battery changes or dead cameras because you haven't changed the batteries.
I only ever used the Arlo on a schedule to run at night, or manually turn on/off, because you drain batteries if say you or somebody is doing something outside setting it off all the time, or passing cars or sidewalk set it off all the time, etc. With Nest I can see the traffic in front of my house, all deliveries, all outside activity, everything, all the time, no run down batteries etc so much better.
But even Arlo is way way better than nothing.
I went years on 3 cameras. Smaller house, I covered both doors, the garage door, the back part of the driveway, and almost all of the windows with those 3 cameras.
Also, rechargeable batteries...you do want those.
I think your planned 3 is a good way to start. Cover a good area front/back with the two, and get an up close and personal with people who approach the door or packages etc with the third. That's basically what I did initially.
You will want the street out of view or at least be sure to set the motion so the street won't set it of. IDK if they currently let you set motion zones with arlo. With nest you can set your own very precise and well defined zones that are color coded and have different rules on notifications

Was at the gun shop today trying to buy a shield 2.0 or a 2.0c 3.6” but their prices were bad. They are usually pretty good, and I’ll pay the little bit more there to help out the local shops but these were way off.
Grabagun has smoking deals on these. So may just have to order.

Even Brownells is like $90 higher on that 3.6”. I know cabelas will match Brownells. May see if they’ll match Grabagun but I doubt it.

I was literally thinking to myself If i was to buy two M&Ps, which ones would it be? and immeidately said the 3.6 incher and the 2.0 shield.
Tried to talk myself out of it and instead save up for a kriss vector, but now that I see these deals im thinking about going in dry

I think one of the main reasons I've held off this long in purchasing something is it's a 2 story house and I just don't want to even try to fuk with running wires for these things. The Arlo seems to get nearly universal pretty positive reviews for what it is. The one drawback is to getting ideal sight lines is I'll probably have to put them under 1st floor overhangs, which doesn't make them terribly secure. Comes with a rolling 7 days of cloud storage for free, which is likely more than I'll ever need, and the motion detection alerts are the main thing I like.
What's wrong with the rechargeable batteries? I'm sure they don't last as long, but is it a big enough difference that recharging them is that much of a pain? (edit: just realized that says "do want". is that accurate?)
From what I understand looking at the videos and reading on them, it seems like each camera has its own settings that you can set to motion or constant and adjust the sensitivity on, etc.Last edited by SpeedCheeser; 08-06-2018 at 11:42 AM.
