Bought a gba001 a couple weeks back for cheap and did a ags101 backlight mod = changed the buttons. Shoutout to mkx1775 for recommending the backlight kit.
Before
Only solder point was here, so tiny
After
The replacement buttons and bumpers were great, only thing was that the L/R buttons wouldn't move after it was assembled. Threw the original ones back on there.***Dallas MISC Crew***

I tried out the Video Games Monthly thing and got my first package. It's a pretty convenient service. They actually sent me the wrong one first (4 japanese N64 games and Tetris 2 on NES). They saw their mistake, sent me the correct package and let me keep those ones also.
Also I got ahold of an OG Sega Master System about a month ago finally. It's in really good condition also.

I have a fascination with the Master System now. When I was growing up, none of my friends had them. Everyone had the NES.
Damn that's a lot dude. You just grabbing anyone you can get on the cheap?
How often are you guys finding stuff at thrift stores? I moved for work a year ago to a place that has 10 times the population in the metro area yet I cannot find retro gaming items at them. I would always find chit where I used to live. One always had genesis games for some reason. I took it granted because I would pick and choose there but now I would just buy them all, if I lived there.NDSU Crew

Damn that master system looks clean AF.
A bit of an update about my situation. So around September, the wife and I had to moved out of our apartment and moved into a new house and most of my stuff is back is still in my cabinet or in storage. I don't know when I'll get around to getting my game room going since I'm busy with work most of the time. My thought is to build some shelves near the ceiling in one of the extra rooms and displaying my console boxes up there.

I need some help Identifying a game from this youtube vid. It is at the 00:33 maark and for the life of me I cannot remember the name of it. I used to rent it a bunch as a kid.
Obviously I will rep for the answer.
I bought Pro Quarterback along with some other Genesis games over the weekend just because I always see it and it was boxed. Holy chit this has to be the worst football game I have ever played on any system. I dont know why I would rent the game as a kid.

I am jealous of all you guys that can fix these things. I am terrible at it. I tried to do a basic cleaning of a Genesis controller about a month ago because a button stuck. I ended up breaking it basically because now most the buttons dont work at all.
I just looked up 10 yard fight and there is no way I could even finish a full football game. It looks god awful.
Also if anyone is looking to get a Genesis I really recommend the new AT Games HD version of the Genesis. It is way better than the first version that they realeased. Most gamers are negative and parrot the "I will never buy anything from AT games again" line. The updated version is awesome! It has a chit ton of games on it that are actually good ones (Genesis, SMS, & Game Gear). It hooks up to HD televisions and the wireless 6 button controllers work awesome. The best part of it that you can actually save numerous cartridges and the preloaded games on there which is awesome so you dont have to sit down for a long ass time to go through a full game to beat it and you can just start right back to where you stopped playing. There is nothing worse than you are trying to beat a game and then it freezes but with this system you dont have to worry about it.NDSU Crew

Love the sms, I've got probably over half of the library of games. Some real gems.
I have better luck at pawn shops. Thrift stores are hit and miss...usually salvation army will have a few cart games while goodwill will send there stuff out to be sold on the auction website.***Dallas MISC Crew***

I have pretty much every ROM for NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, SMS, Genesis, etc. With Nintendo's attack on ROM sites, things really are hit and miss. I would recommend checking out ArcadePunks - https://www.arcadepunks.com/roms-for...ole-emulation/
I have always been curious how things work. Always took stuff apart when I was younger. But I had to learn how to solder and troubleshoot. There's some trial and error involved, but once you get it down, it makes the hobby of game collecting so much more fulfilling.
I have been reluctant to buy any AT Games stuff, because, well AT Games. I may check out the new one though.

I just picked up this game CIB for $ 12 when pricecharting says it should be $ 35. I have never but it looks fun. It seems to have started getting a retro gaming following over the years.
I have seen 1 issue really. With some cartridges they will not work or have issues. Like weird as fukk issues. I just got NBA Live 98 recently and put it in to play. This sounds like I am making it up but I am not even every player turned into Dikembe Mutumbo lol. I thought the person that previously had it may have fukked with the rosters so I reset them and reset the battery but it was the same. I put it in my Nomad to check and the cartridge works fine.
Has anyone used any of the Retron Consoles? I will soon start getting back into some Nintendo (after I get more Sega things I never had) related things and get the old consoles but was looking into getting a retron also.Last edited by devin45k; 03-01-2019 at 11:26 AM.

I’ve never played the genesis version of True Lies, but I have the SNES version and it’s a great game.
I have the retron 5 and use it occasionally. It’s not bad, but I prefer playing on original consoles. My kids like the retron 5 because you can download cheats on to an SD card and use them in the game.People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a nonlinear, nonsubjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

I still haven't played the game. I got distracted with a couple other pickups I got over the weekend.
I will probably just stick with the OG NES and SNES systems when I rebuy them again
The amount of regrets I have with retro gaming chit I sold or gave away is insane. I just gave away all my x box and x box 360 systems and games back in the day. I dont really have any urge to play those again but I could have traded that chit in for other chit I currently am wanting to get.NDSU Crew

I have been slacking on buying anything retro lately. Recently bought a Playstation Classic for $40 and modded it though.
Same here. I threw away most of my stuff. Going back and buying all that stuff again makes me feel stupid. Not that I play the originals, I just like to have them because of nostalgia.

I dont know why I get that feeling also. Most people buying the retro stuff got rid of it before but we mentally shame ourselves for the mistake we made in the past. I had an insta-regret as a kid when I sold my Genesis and the 40 games I had to get my N64. I liked my N64 but the whole time I was like "why the fukk did I do that"
I have been focusing on just Genesis and Master System related stuff lately. I did start rebuying some gameboy games here and there because they are so cheap at times.
I got my monthly VGM box yesterday. I need to get the timing down better because the last 2 months I bought a game literally within like 3 days of when I got the box and received a double because it was already shipped. I gambled and got the Pro Wrestling game on Sunday but then received this yesterday. It's not a big deal because I will just trade doubles for something else eventually. Same thing happened last month with TNN Outdoors Fishing Tournament 96. There was like a 1 percent chance at best they would choose that random game but they did lol.
The labels on the cartridges this month were in crazy good condition.

For me, I got rid of my gaming stuff because I had three little boys at the time and their stuff was just over-whelming. I had nowhere to store my gaming stuff and I didn't play them, so I threw them out. I had instant regret when I got rid of Super Metroid, OoT (N64), and the OoT Master Quest (Gamecube) games.
Do I spy Eternal Champions in that box? That is one game that has a ton of nostalgia feels for me. Don't know why.
I am also mirin Pro Wrestling.
I want to start collecting Master System and Genesis but those are much harder for me to find in my area. I used to have a Master System and NES back in the day.

Got lucky and picked this up today off of Craigslist far cheaper than what I would get it for on eBay (some people just don't know what they're selling on Craigslist). Pretty clean box, tested and worked, console was immaculate. The games come boxed, some are still in plastic. The loose games were Shadowman, Indiana Jones, Resident Evil 2, and Conker's Bad Fur Day.
$150 for all of this.*** Extreme OCD crew *** (brb bench press not parallel to the ceiling beams)
