    Farmers Walk

I’m thinking of adding farmers walk to my routine 3-4 days a week.

Is there carryover to any of the major compound lifts? Specifically:

    Deadlift
    Squat
    Overhead Press
    Bench.

    Thanks!

It helps build a stronger grip and traps which carry over to all those lifts.

    Strong grip- deadlift

Strong traps/upper back - All those lifts

    Core - All lifts

It's almost a full body exercise. Try suitcase carries for variety and always keep the dumbells slightly away from the body for extra benefits.

Are there slight variations you can do on grip, angle, arm position to give more direct work to another part of body other than grip, upper back and trap? For example one of the delt heads?

You can't do that if you go super heavy. I've been doing FWs' with various loads (always for 100 yards) as a finisher for quite a while and I categorically state that a minimum of half your body weight in each hand is the way to realize its true benefit.
