I'm more of a mmo guy, so:
Ragnarok Online - watching a video of a WoE gets me in tears srs, still play it sometimes, but 3rd classes killed the game for me
Rose Online - second best mmo I've ever played, leveling in group+pvp+crafting+robots+more leveling
If I have to say a singleplayer game, probably kingdom hearts II

Mega Man 2 and River City ransom are my favorites as I can play them anytime. Very easy games to pick up and pretty quick with a lot of re-play-ability.
Also mega man 2 has some of the best music.
I don't play a lot of online games anymore because you need a good connection majority of the time to get the "edge" in top tier play. Casually I play dumb party games with randos and some peeps.

Or Xenogears... It's just the best jRPG I have ever played.
