    Question Vestibular Migraine from Pre-Workout?

Has anyone else ever had a vestibular migraine from taking pre-workout? if you don't know what a vestibular migraine is google it. This happened to me 6 months ago and I've felt like sh** ever since. Had to stop going to the gym after 7 years of training. This was all new to me as I have never had a migraine before except for the occasional throbbing headaches i would get on leg day whenever I took pre-workout. Compared to the days I would not take any pre-workout, I would feel totally fine. I have however felt some improvements in the way I feel and my perception of balance and spacial orientation is slowly returning, but its not what it used to be, at least not yet. So I no longer take any supplements of any kind and have discontinued use of caffeine and artificial sweeteners. Also i don't drink soda or alcohol at all and don't take any recreational drugs just to put it out there cuz theres always that one person. I found that caffeinated beverages and products that contain caffeine, like pre-workout, can cause electrolyte imbalances (dehydration) and vitamin deficiencies from increased urination and excessive sweating.

I also found online that Magnesium levels are controlled in the body in large part by the kidneys, which filter and excrete excess magnesium and other minerals. But caffeine causes the kidneys to release extra magnesium regardless of body status. If you drink caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea and soda regularly, your risk for magnesium deficiency is increased and your chances of developing migraines and/or more serious conditions are much greater.

I'm just trying to see if anyone else here has gone through something similar to this and has gone through a full recovery with no relapse after discontinuing the use of pre-workout and/or any other supplements that may have caused them this.

Yeah this happened to me, I was diagnosed with VM in June of this year. I was actually doing some cardio when it hit me really bad.

I was out of the gym for like 4 months and just started going back in November. I feel like I’m at 80-90% now. I’ve been taking magnesium 500mg, multi vitamin , D3 etc seems like it’s been helping a lot

    Have you recovered 100%?

Ive been told by one doctor that it was probably a vestibular migraine and then I've been told by another that it can be a build of stress from lack of sleeping and tension on the neck muscles from working out for many years. I also have a deviated septum so i was also told that that could also be a possibility but there is no way to truly know what caused it. Its hard for me to believe that it was a migraine since ive never had a migraine before. I have not been able to return to the gym in over a year, not sure if ill ever be going back. Ive been taking the same vitamins and minerals as you for many months but the improvements i am seeing are due more to the amount of time ive had recovering. I would say that i am about 90% better but there is still that floating feeling but its not as bad as it was in the beginning and a few neck aches and headaches that come and go for no reason.

Also note. These migraines can be the silent type were there’s no pain.

The best things that’s helped me is fighting through it and going to the gym. The first month sucked so bad but each week I get better and better. My doctor said the best way to recover is to get up and move around eventually the brain will rework itself. I’m not 100% but I feel like I’m getting closer each week.

Before that I was in bed for 4 months, I couldn’t do anything
