[Home Gym] Light up your Dungeon!

If your home gym is in your garage or basement like mine, chances are you have those single bulb sockets spaced pretty far apart. When I remodeled my gym, I painted the walls yellow and red, and that lightened the room up, but I still only had two 100 watt bulbs lighting the thing up.

Ever since I built the gym, I kept thinking I should get an electrician in there to put in more lights. Then, recently I was thinking of running some LED strips or putting in some florescent or LED shop lights. All of this was going to be pretty expensive.

Then, sort of by accident, I discovered these on Amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I got 2 of them (the 3 prong ones, they also have 4 and 5 pronged ones) and now have six 100 watt LED Daylight bulbs in my gym. That's 3 times as bright (and actually using less wattage) It went from dim to brighter than outside!

So, $20 for the fixtures and $30 for the bulbs (with 2 spare bulbs), is $50...a lot cheaper than all the other options.

Nice inexpensive idea for people not wanting to change out fixtures, as long as they have the ceiling height. repped !

They actually don’t hang as low as the picture looks, and the arms can be moved around into various positions. Same clearance as a regular bulb if you splay them outward.

thats actually a personal preference i always lean toward 3000-3500 as my light choice, a lot of older clients like 3700-4000 as it appears to be brighter

I did mine in 5000k daylight. I think it's personal preference though.

It's the only thing I did in daylight. My landscape lighting and house interior lighting is 3000K warm white.

Repped! I love quick easy things that make a real difference! I just ordered two to try,
On another related note, I have literally hundreds of incandescent bulbs in my house. I built it in 2006 before LED had really taken off. I have recessed, chandeliers with the small candle style bulbs, and then some regular size bulbs. For those that have made a large whole house changeover, Whats the most cost effective way to do it, are there different types or styles of LED that are significantly different or they just have wattage ratings and fairly similar lifespan and efficiency? Also is home depot the best source or is there a better online source like amazon? I know its a little of topic but some here are really up on it and researched it already.

About two years ago I replaced all my incandescents with bulbs from Costco, they were offset, in price, by money from my local power company (Duke). Just giving you a different idea, also check your power company as some off you mail in rebates on bulbs replaced. Good liuck.
