Curious why I can hexbar farmer carry 235lb but struggle farmer carry with 75lb

I have a trap/hex bar and I frikken love this thing. The bar itself weights 75lb and I put a 45lb & 35lb plates on each side. I probably could do 2 45lb plates on each side now, gonna test it out tonight. But when I put plates on my dumbbell handles (the ones where you can load up olympic plates on either side. My powerblocks only go up to 50lb.) I struggle to do 75lb in each hand.

I think its because it's harder to stabilize your upper body with DBs, and easier to stabilize with a trap bar.

Probably down to grip. Same reason it's easier to deadlift with an alternating grip or straps. The DBs just want to roll out of your hand.

This, plus a question. Is the handle wider on your dumbbells than the hex bar? I'm my case, my Hampton hex bar handles are 29mm, and my 75lb are 32mm. Makes a big difference when holding at your side for prolonged period of time.

I think I'm gonna just stay doing trap bar farmers carries. Better to overload the traps with as much weight as possible right? Or any muscle for that matter, correct? The handles on the trap bar are actually pretty thick compared to my dumbbell handles. I think even thicker than my regular 45lb barbell.
