    KNEES -- How do I strengthen surrounding knee muscles with weights.

    Someone please tell me of exercises to strengthen muscles which surround knees. Several years ago someone told me of some cable exercises and I did them and was amazed. Can'r find her. Anybody know?

    look at https://www.massgeneral.org/ortho-sp...the%20Knee.pdf. You should also consider working out in a sand pit, the instability helps with the ankles and knees

    Strength exercises: Squats (any kind - DB Goblet, Back, Front), Deadlifts (Barbell, RDL, Trap Bar), and Split Squats (Rear Foot Elevated, Front Foot Elevated, Both feet on ground).

    The knee flexes, extends, and rotates slightly. These exercises work all three actions, keeping the feet on the ground (which transfers better to sport/life).

    My 2 cents would be to focus on quads/leg training. Strong quads help stabilize your knees a lot. For example, females have a 200-800% greater chance of an acl injury than males. Its safe to assume females typically weigh less as well, and are generally less powerful. This goes to show that less force + less muscle is more prone to injury than more force + more muscle.

    In short, get them quads nice and strong and knee injuries will be the least of your worries

    When coming back from ACL surgery, I had to restrengthen the knee. The exercises I used were leg press, leg extensions, lunges and squats. Now my knee feels as strong as it did before.
