Okay, so my friend has started training on and off this past year, the steadiest being a month ago where he trained for nearly 4 months straight. He is a retained (on-call) firefighter and full time emergency recovery engineer (also does this on call). To give him credit, he can occassionally work around 90-100 hours a week.
Obviously this can be strenuous enough and then he has to go to the gym. He is currently running a 3x5 on a cut. He was thinking as opposed to going to the gym for 1 hour every day he could break up his workouts (a & b) and do a few excercises of workout A on for example a Monday and then do the other part on Tuesday, effectively doing the same workload but spreading it out over 5 days and not 3 (the only breaks he will take are weekend breaks).
TL;DL - Friend wants to spread his 3x5 workouts on a cut over 5 days as opposed to 3, effectively doing less each day and taking his break at the weekend.
