I remember several years ago, it was discussed a lot on the Misc and on other boards. Many are challenging religion. Now, theres hardly any talks.
I know theres still a lot out there, but it seems theres no more discussion. In fact, there are more talks about religion. Esp how libs are destroying Christian values, etc.. People defending Christianity more than before.

im atheist and ive given up talking to religious people.
it always comes down to:
'god is all around us'
'okay but have you actually seen god?'
'i dont need to see him when i can feel him'
'okay then how do you know he exists?'
'because he made the earth and the stars and the universe'
'okay do you have any evidence?'
'do you have any evidence that he didnt?'
and round and round and round.

I’ve noticed the same thing OP. I think the “new atheist” clique of authors (Christopher Hitchens/Richard Dawkins/Sam Harris/etc.) & books like “The God Delusion” made identifying as an atheist trendy for awhile, particularly for single men. Now it’s more popular to ascribe to new age spirituality, particularly for single women.

It's not dropping, it's increasing, the more knowledge and progression the human race gains the more Atheism will increase.
People just gave up talking to religious people about it because it's pointless. I've also become more tolerant to some of people's religious beliefs a lot more compared to few years ago.The more i learn about people, the more i like my dog.

Hopefully, they just figured out that no one wants to hear their opinion just like no one wants to hear other people's religious beliefs.

No reason to talk about it here. You'll always get trolling answers. Though I am one who believes religion is pretty damn stupid nowadays. I don't try to have debates with religious people. I let them believe their own sh!t.

Well, many christians do not do that either. Also those that do are doing it for a reason. The bible is very explicit that christians should evangelize, not to mention if someone is trying to get you to become christian it is because they love you and want to see you grow spiritually. Oh, and don't want you to go to hell.**Georgia Crew**

That's not true in every case. I'm still part of a cult like christian religion engages in deep bible study two times a week and they still use that senseless circular reasoning. Not all bible readers are ignorant, but quite a few just find ways to twist the scriptures to fit their personal view of morality and life.
I'm agnostic by the way. I recently had my faith shattered by some disturbing facts. However I retain a small hope of a higher power, but I'm not devoting my life to it like I did before.
Religion will never go away, but I think it's influence will weaken as time goes on.

I've met more spiritual atheists or those into eastern religion. Maybe not monotheism like Judao-Christianity teaches.
I do think there is a backlash against modern atheism right now because of how they present their arguments with a high level of pompousness, arrogance, and superiority.A hit was sent, from the President, to raid your residence /
