- too many reps, some companies have like 8 reps? (love when they quote each other, "yeah man our fruit punch flavor is the best")
- too many of the same people entering promo after promo and giving substanded reviews, lack of pics, details, or just giving a fukk "10/10"... our blacklist is very long.
- too much bickering between reps... trust me, even newbies can spot a horrible rep.
- lazy reps, (insert copy and paste here) see horrible rep comment above.
- it is not a welcoming place, OP get jump by 10 reps telling him "check your diet" (maybe we can simply say "assuming your diet is good" or direct them to the nut section)
- the forum has been deemphasize (lack of updates) in place of bodyspace (which i don't use, so cant speak of)
- how about a mobile app (welcome to 2005).
- maybe schedule threads, like Q&A with 'insert name here'
- fix store reviews, they been a long time joke. (not sure how, maybe link them to product threads, much like the rival "morning" site does, with reviews)
- would be nice to have this...

Second this.
The store reviews here seem to 1) not really be monitored, nor 2) updated with actual ratings. The count of reviews doesn't often line up with the amount there and if you average the ratings yourself with ones you see, you get a different number than what is displayed next to the product.
Not everyone dives into the reviews here, but you find interesting things when you do. People giving products 1/10 thinking it is another product and just as bad, they didn't receive the product and rated it a 1/10 as a result.
Collectively I think most of us regulars have great ideas that can make this site as a whole better, not just the forum. I've been coming here for over 10 years which is crazy to think about, so I feel invested in helping.

Iโm guilty of not leaving images of products in my reviews....mostly because itโs so freaking difficult to post it somehwere ELSE, copy and then do the, essentially, DOS Prompt coding to insert it here....so I just donโt but I try to at least write some meaningful thoughts on what I buy/receive from promos. Guys, seriously....please listen to him. This was very generous of them to move this back here (let alone sticky it). Its not that hard, stay on task as far as the purpose of this thread...TO IMPROVE THE FORUMS. If you have an issue with anything or anyone, take it elsewhere...or bring it up to me, whatever, I'll address it.
Thank you.....
Now....again..LOVE the involvement and the suggestions. Like i stated before, lets hope this falls on listening ears.๐ Talk is cheap, Actions are priceless ๐

Sad I missed this thread until now, but was on vacation drinking copious amounts of rum and not meeting my macros for a week. Cest La Vie.
Not sure I can add a ton, but this was a solid idea Ray.
The lack of good mobility with BB.com with the amount of money they invest in IT is ridiculous
The old app was slow, but at least it worked and you could read and post on the forums. Telling people to use the desktop is ridiculous and dated.
In 2012 we were seeing information about how we should stop developing for desktop/laptop and focus on mobile with charts showing that by 2014 mobile access to the web would surpass desktop. I look at my shopify store and see the 80%+ of my traffic comes from mobile. I look at my other websites and see the traffic coming at 72%+ on a regular basis. If I didn't build a responsive site I'd be toast. If Shopify didn't work in a responsive manner, I wouldn't sell anything. Hell, for my day job the software I sell is built around a MADP. I'd be willing to sell you that MADP (highly regarded by Gartner BB.com) to help you make this work.
The ads are overbearing
I get that competition is hurting bb.com's rev streams, and what I know from the people working with bb.com on "deals" and advertising it seems that the rev streams are either hurting or the traffic drives the rates (the latter of which is totally cool). If the former, why else run adsense with retargeting ads? Why else put the content of the site behind a paywall? Obviously, it's driving revenue in superior ways or they wouldn't continue doing it. Still doesn't change the fact that the ads mess up the forum experience. I don't need to see retargeting ads for my store competitors because I visited their site to do some competitive research while I'm perusing the bb.com forums.
Search
Seriously. SERIOUSLY! Why is the search so borked and doesn't seem to get fixed or be fixable? The search functions used to be great. Searching Google produces better search results for bb.com than bb.com's own search. That's bad. I believe that's part of why there are so many redundant questions that lead to frustration with regular posters. Gotta fix it.
Better manage the BS in the name of repping products
If we want to have a better forum experience this needs to change. The use of sock accounts to act as shills and make attacks to protect the rep, the use of copy pasta links just makes for a poor experience for people that want real answers.
I've seen a few poo poo the idea of actually educating people asking questions by trying to understand their situation more. Just because they ask about XYZ supplement doesn't mean that's the answer they want. It's clear that the level of bunk information out in the web and even in bb.com articles is quite high. Correcting false info, info taken out of context, info used in marketing copy that uses science in specious ways and info that is confusing should be what these forums are about. It's wrong to just say, "Hey we should just tell them to use XYZ if/then," instead of truly guide them.
We, as a community, should encourage education and understanding of the science behind the body and supplementation rather than pretending placebo is more valuable than it is. Not saying placebo can't be powerful, but by perpetuating BS we eventually reap what we sow. Products will sell, they always do, but repping the right products for the consumer need is what's important, as is making sure someone knows that nutrition, training, rest and hydration will always produce results and supplements may enhance them slightly.
Modernize UX/UI
There is no reason people should still be using forum codes Dougefresh93 is spot on with that image.
Reduce number of sub-forums
Creating more options will further reduce traffic. No reason to do that. I'd suggest combining more of them. Examples: No reason for a "Losing fat" forum, it should be with nutrition. "Sports Training," "Exercises," "Workout Programs," could be combined.
Good read for the most part with good input."I'm pretty sure your wrong, but care to elaborate..."

Mobile by far would be a great change. I know that personally I try to avoid posting from Mobile sometimes just because it's a pain in the ass.
With such events as the 250k Challenge, why are people not being routed through here as a resource? Instead I see people going to the ******** groups asking questions then receiving 10+ of the wrong answers because people regurgitate things they hear, with one or two correct answers that just get ignored or worse, they are told they are wrong because more people are saying something else. I would like to see, in the future, more of these people routed towards the forums for true guidance so that they aren't lead astray.
Also, on the above note, perhaps those that have proven themselves to be knowledgeable and helpful could receive a tag of some sort like "mentor" or something to indicate that they are knowledgeable and able to be trusted.AE APE results thread: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=144074851&p=867099761&viewfull=1#post867099761

Yeah, we all need a mirror mentor, right? Right?
I do agree with Jammer on the ******** vs Forums issue though. BB.com is very focused on social media, not that there's anything wrong with that, but for things like their contests wouldn't it make more sense to use SM to generate traffic to BB.com (and the forums) to give yourselves more opportunities to collect email addresses for email marketing purposes and to potentially make sales by having them on the site?

What if the sub forums were updated, and the supplement section were to offer categories for specific products/interests (like below)? This would greatly improve the mobile experience
An ingredient section and others could be added. This would also minimize the front page traffic, and allow members to pick and choose their interests.
Stickies and product info could be posted in each category section, this would be beneficial to all new members and will also reduce the amount of repeated questions
The version of vBulletin that BB.com uses has tons of custom features and add-ons. I'm guessing this is why they haven't updated to the latest versionLast edited by TheFugitive; 03-01-2018 at 11:48 PM.

The front page is a mess and needs uniformity. People don't want to scroll through a million pages to find a topic of interest. I have a feeling this will increase traffic and provide a better user experience. The page I posted would be the supplement section. The sub-forums would still offer product reviews, company promotions, supp misc and other categories

People rarely ever scroll the first page to find a topic of interest before starting a new thread. That is why we have so many repetitive threads. You're mixing up things that forums do to account for increasing traffic with things that actually increase traffic. We have a generous estimate of 40-50 actual regular contributing members, most of which are reps who are required to post. I can't imagine how slow things would get if we took that and split it out to 7 sub-sections. Vitamins - Greens - Fiber would be dead on arrival.

I figured it was worth a mention. I'm part of a few other forums where the "mentor" indicator has helped.
Perhaps they are just scared we might chase people away and that's why contestants were directed to FB instead of here. It does seem like a huge missed opportunity.AE APE results thread: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=144074851&p=867099761&viewfull=1#post867099761

And let's be honest as to why the suggestion is being pushed. TheFug already said why he thinks this is a good idea. I'm paraphrasing, but it would allow people who don't believe certain supplements do anything to skip those sections while allowing others to pimp product with less people contradicting their sales efforts.
It would also lead to new people ultimately posting in the general section because they don't know the flow of the forums. It wouldn't fix anything other than to make things more complex, forum mods needing to make more moves and drawing traffic away.
We'd might have less of the same questions to answer over and over if search worked properly as well. We could simply direct people to search and read."I'm pretty sure your wrong, but care to elaborate..."

Maybe I'm too cynical but I don't see any of these changes saving an outdated and dead platform or BB.com even implementing/caring about most of these. Social Media rules all. Wish you luck though, as I've been here a while and it will suck when it goes away.
We all know what The Solution to this problem is, if he were here his posts would be worth like 10,000 of regular members.

I agree but also tend to disagree a bit as well.
Your definitely right in the fact that Social Media rules all. But BB.com could go a long way in improving the forum and tying it into the current Social Media wave to cross-promote. The reason they are being left in the dust is they are still doing business (unfortunately) like it's 2007 and not 2018. No one wants to update Bodyspace when they already have IG, ********, etc. and nobody wants to google promo codes and feel like they are half breaking the law by inquiring on how to get one.
They want to go onto Social Media, see a bunch of BB.com things pop up with some deals, savings, etc. and link to forums to come ask questions to users who have knowledge on the product. And then why they are there they will purchase. It's rather easy if you think about it ...
