A while ago the misc was telling me I should grow out my hair, as my buzzed hair wasn't a good look for me.
I also followed your advice and began tanning if any of you remember.
Lately I have been improving my style. I bought this pair of whiskered jeans and started wearing t-shirts which broadcast my interests. Most recently I visited NYC and stopped at a high end Japanese boutique. The saleswomen were cute, exactly the type of girl I'm trying to attract, and they recommended this popular brand with hoodies that zip up into different animal faces. Although 5'6, I had to size up to a Japanese extra large, which really impressed them. They recommended a bright color animal hoodie to accentuate my facial features, and because I entered wearing a black hoodie.
I must have tried on near the whole zoo with these girls before they put me on the spot, asking my decision. Suddenly I felt a great anxiety as I had no idea how items were priced. I looked around for the nearest item and my eyes met upon a bright pink camo lighter. $80. I felt my stomach churn as I realized the blue shark hoodie I had on was six times that much. I flushed bright red and felt a second wave of anxiety oncoming as I realized that while contemplating, I had been silent for an inordinate amount of time. I thought one of the girls was giving me side-eye and they may have believed I was stealing.
It was at that point I turned to the exit and walked face-first into the sale rack, making contact with a bright yellow shark hoodie in my size. I played it off better than any Olympian and grabbed that shark hoodie before reversing direction to the sales guy at the counter and promptly proceeding through checkout.
My new look:
It has been about a week since returning from my trip and while I feel a confidence boost of 2-3 points from wearing the hoodie, I can't help but reconsider my purchase. I haven't been getting the comments I was expecting and I've been known to put together good outfits on little money.
I'm not a bargain basement shopper but this is my only expensive purchase other than new jeans ($60). Perhaps I could reclaim the money and step up my shoe game? My mom says I should report them to the BBB for pressuring the sale but everyone was fairly nice. I'm 800 miles away from the store now, but I was thinking about calling up and trying to arrange a return? - unless the misc thinks I'm going in the right direction fashion-wise.
I'm being eaten alive!
