Because it makes it harder for law-abiding, sane people who don't even remotely think about going out and shooting up a bunch of innocent people to buy a gun.
However it makes no difference to criminals as many of them already go outside the law to get guns, tightening up laws that they already aren't following won't do anything.
And Chicago has shown that tough gun laws don't work.

OP's argument is flawed from the get go, places with more guns usually have less crime, know why that is? Because people are polite when they aren't sure if you're gonna blow them away or not.
I moved from Newark, NJ, one of the worst and most violent cities in this country. Guns are not legal there in any capacity, yet there are more gun crimes than almost anywhere in the country.
I now live in north VA, where everyone carries, and where I live is rated one of the safest and richest areas in this country.
Guns don't kill people, dumb asses kill people. When you regulate guns, all you do is make the non criminal citizenry unable to defend themselves. Guns are the great equalizer, with a gun, an 80 year old woman can defend herself against a 250lbs, 6'5, 25 year old who's high on PCP and looking to eat someone's face.
People are gonna do what they're gonna do. Look at China, some retard went full and killed like 30 people with a knife. If people want to do damage, they will.
What we need is education, scholastic education, gun education, and life education. People need to raise their kids to be able to cope with the fact that life is hard. Also, a more educated society is a less violent and less criminal society. When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Maybe gun related crimes go down, because people don't have guns anymore, so opportunists or accidental discharges when performing a crime with a gun would be lessened, but facts don't lie. I think people want less murder, and think less guns will achieve that, not less guns, regardless of whether it helps the murder rate, don't you agree? When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. It seems it's you that can't read. Look up the stats, I just did, it was higher in 2010 than it was in 1990. I wouldn't call that working. Even now there's less than a 10% difference in the rates, and that decrease can be attributed to many things, less guns is not one of them.
If you like being unable to defend yourself, be my guest, I'll keep my guns. When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. 1. It doesn't work
2. We've already compromised too much on our rights
3. Shall not be infringed
PS, why don't we have to pass a background check to exercise any of our other rights? I'd love to see a background check requirement to vote...^^Former 300+lb Crew^^

Dieting doesn't work. Just about every fatass has been on a diet or is on one right now, and they're still fat.
Education doesn't work. Everyone goes to school, but there are still millions of dumabasses who can't read.
Exercise doesn't work. How many skinnyfat FAs go to the gym and are still skinnyfat FAs 2 years later? Loads.
Guns for self-defence don't work. In America there are millions of violent crimes every year where the victim doesn't defend themselves with a gun. Guns don't work. Period.
None of these things work. None of them do what they're advertised to do.
Well, they don't, if you do a really piss-poor, half-assed attempt at them, and then say it didn't work because it can't, rather than admit that you just did a really shytty job of it and that's why it didn't work.GO LOCAL SPORTSBALL TEAM

Except it is infringed, because you're not allowed to own any type of "arms" you wish in the USA as some are banned/extremely hard to be allowed to own.
Where then do you draw a line on the infringement, if fully automatics are banned and that's fine under the constitution then how can the 2A be an argument that other types of guns can't be banned? Maybe the government let you have a powder loaded musket and that's your "arms" so you're still good.
I think most reasonable people on the "anti" gun side are more interested in making it harder to own a weapon if you're liable to be a threat, rather than "ban every gun in existence", if you're a sane and reasonable gun owner then there's little arguments to more background checks/not as easy access to weapons beyond the "I want it now not in x weeks" or the possible extra financial cost to cover running checks, neither of these are covered or infringement of 2A.Current ShareBlue earnings: $103,587.99

Because that is where it ends up. Have you ever heard of "give em an inch, they will take a mile"? Did you know that there was a time in this country when you could purchase or carry a sidearm anywhere without any licensing or background checks? There was a time when you could get dynamite without a license. I bet there was some idiot back then who was saying "Why do so many morons equate background checks with 'You can't carry your guns and exercise your rights freely anymore muahaahaaa'"
I notice that you didn't address the quote in the previous post either, just came with some liberal catch phrase.

We can't outright ban guns because its too ingrained in the culture and it won't work like it did in Aussie-land because we neighbor a borderline 3rd world country that smuggles guns in by the truckloads every day.
If anything drastic happens, it would be like prohibition all over again. Lots of resentment Al Capone groups popping up, underground black markets etc etc.
and hell with the advent of the internet anyone can just look up how to make their own gun. and if you have even a beginners level knowledge in how to weld and access to a hardware store, its a piece of cake.
If you've ever met a real gun nut, their guns are their lives and literally defines who they are.Last edited by Maestro; 02-22-2018 at 11:10 PM.
