Can't tolerate any form of protein shake!

    Hey everyone,

I've tried whey ISOLATE in about 4 flavours, all fairly plain (Myprotein), soy isolate (The Protein Works), and even a vegan blend from Bulk Powders (pea, hemp, etc). All of them seem to make me feel nauseous. It's become a psychological battle just to get them down and I'm beginning to question if it's even worth it.

I weigh 61kg, at reasonable fitness currently at 25% body fat. Last summer was much fitter and leaner, weighed the same but was 20% body fat. Over winter have had exams and not been lifting or watching my diet, and only now getting back into it with the hope to shed the fat and regain a bit of strength.

No problem eating high protein foods in any other form, meat, eggs, even drinking milk on its own. But I've always struggled with tolerating any kind of protein shake. Most recently tried the vegan blend, wondering if it was something to do with whey, but that makes me want to puke as well.

My protein goal is around 125g/ day, and I manage to get 100g of that through normal food. Should I sack off the protein shakes entirely? Are there any other suggestions anyone might have for getting the extra protein without spending an hour over the toilet? Or do I just need to 'man-up'....?

    Appreciate ANY suggestions! Thanks

You should be able to get 125g of protein from food. Greek yogurt and make drink fairlife milk ? Plus a few servings of lean protein.

Protein powder is not necessary or going to have a better effect for you. Stick to getting that through whole foods.

If you have no issue meeting your protein intake through real food, then you don't need to worry about incorporating protein shakes in your diet

Why do you think you need to drink a protein shake? If you can meet your protein requirements through whole foods, then you're good. Whey protein is not superior to protein from whole foods. The goal is to meet your protein macro for the day, that's it.
