I weigh 150lbs and am skinny as all hell. Would like to supplement my diet with some protein shakes but don't really want to break the bank.
is this worth it? Matrix Nutrition Muscle Whey Complex Protein - Mass Gain Powder Best Value. (Chocolate, 5KG) it's on amazon at the moment.
I'm hearing mixed things about them, but for the price I'm tempted to go for it. I'd prefer to buy a big tub of something rather than 1kg tubs. Is there better for the same price or maybe a little more? Most I wanna go is £40.
Cheers lads

Cheapest but best protein powder

If you're spending pennies on a protein powder, there's likely a reason. Poorer quality. What's in the tub might not be the same as what's on the label. Poor flavoring.
Plenty of good proteins on the market at fair prices.....
PES Select
Dymatize Iso-100
Animal Whey
MT Nitrotech Gold
AI Sport Whey
Purus Labs MyofeedProgressive overload + progressive eating = gains. Simple as that!

I would be hesitant on trying to find the cheapest priced protein as odds are the quality is more than likely poor.
4 brands I like that are high quality are below in no order.
Animal Whey
Nutrabio Whey
Blue Star

No single powder is going to put mass on you. That's a culmination of your overall nutrition and if you are eating in a caloric surplus consistently or not. A protein powder is just a means of convenience when you need to hit your protein target for the day.
Do you know how many calories you should be consuming in order to gain weight? My training log: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=178464441

How much weight are you gaining weekly?
Currently, the best budget friendly protein for bbcom is Nitrotech Gold (highly recommend Van. Funnel Cake)
~62 cents/serving if you use the 2 (2.2lbs) promo
Or
~50 cents/serving if you use the B2G1 promo. + Eglilbe for BBcom's free shipping
Van. Funnel Cake + 3 servings of Oats + Dash of Cinnamon = staple

I hope you didn't go from 3,300 to 4,500 all of a sudden. I'm not a fan of rapid calorie increases and rather take things slow and gradually if you're going to be increasing your calorie intake. A good app to use for that rolling average and tracking your body weight is "Happy Scale."
I would weigh yourself daily to get a 7 day rolling average and see if you need to increase calories or not at the end of the month. Last thing you want to excessive fat gain from such an increae in calories. My training log: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=178464441

SAN Titanium Whey is always one of the more economical choices here, but add in that the Cappuccino flavor is discounted to $43/5lbs, and it's a damn steal.
