Hi everyone! I’m in the process of building my home gym and researching hi/low Cable pulldown machines (weight stack- not plate loaded). I am hoping you can share your opinions on machines you have used as I am most concerned about sturdiness, smootheness of movement, and quality. So far I have identified the following option, what about similar others?
1) Elite FTS PRO lat pulldown w/300lb stack - about $1,900

You probably can, I have done something similair with my Powertec before as a variation. Just lie down flat on the pad with your feet on the supports, and curl away. You might have to get a chain to extend the ROM, but it's actually pretty nice because it forces your back into a fixed position. Although, I question your intentions with this machine is cable curls were the deal breaker. Have you checked craigslist?

Thanks for your input. Having the lat pulldown seating with low cable attachment is really what I’m after- in a high quality, smoothe cable system that will last me for many, many years of heavy usage. I’ve looked on Craigslist weekly for a while along with researching options and feel I have a pretty good idea of what’s available. Guess I’m just slightly uneasy at spending $1800 or more on a machine I haven’t tried out. I’m starting to think that spending more on a true 5/6 commercial station system might be worth it in the long run.
